Opinions on Sugar Substitutes

Hi All,
I recently gave up Splenda due to the health risks and how it's processed, etc. I'm still having a hard time with keeping my coffee low in calories because I also like a decent amount of half and half, creamer, etc. What is everyone's thoughts on Stevia? That option seems to be the least harmful but are any of them really safe? What do you all have in your coffee if you like a lot of cream and some sweetener? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thank you!

Other than personal intollerance or allergy, there really isn't evidence that any of them are harmful.

i was really big on sugar free syrups(made with splenda) and then using more splenda and milk in my coffee. i like it super sweet and light, can't ya tell lol. any who, I've been trying to wean myself down a bit. so for 8 oz of coffee i am having 1 tbsp of sugar and 1 tbsp of hazelnut or cinnabon creamer. thats for like 82 calories i think my diary says. its enough to just take care of that craving for some 'froofy' coffee lol.

I've switched over almost entirely to stevia. I use the packets in my coffee/tea etc. the only thing I can say is if you like things sweeter, use the same as you would have with splenda. if you want things LESS sweet (like i use 1/2 a packet of stevia in my tea) use half as much as you would have with spelnda. I find the Stevia can be slightly overwhelming at first if you try and sub it 1 for 1.

try it with a few things and see what you have noticed and like/dislike :)

I like to use stevia. Also, almond milk is a good low calorie sub for milk in your coffee.

Sugar substitutes are one of the most studies additives out there. For general population, they have been deemed safe to use.
Don't freak out when you hear all the "stories" and "articles" of how bad they are from opposition who don't have clinical or scientific study to actually back it.
If one has a health issue (PKU, etc.) then they shouldn't use certain artificial sweeteners. Also, drinking 2 cases a day of diet soda isn't the way to do either.
