Hello everyone I'm from Jacksonville, IL. After a recent scare and hospital trip caused by my diabetes (type 2), I have decided to join this site to keep track of my carb intake, exercise, and weight loss. My wife also joined, but she cannot diet very well because she is pregnant. Im doing well at sticking to my diet, even watched my wife and kids eat potatoes while I did without. It was kinda hard though. Anyway, Hi from me.

hi and welcome to the site. congrats on the little one. your wife can eat just as healthy but more portions throughout the day. thats what i did. i am vegan and still gained 45 pounds. you can eat potatoes, if you dont pile on the butter and sour cream and bacon and all that stuff. spices are great for everything. if you need a friend go ahead and friend me and we will help each other out.

I do have potatoes from time to time, mostly mashed. My biggest issue is portion control. Used to be small scoops of potatoes for everyone else, and a huge scoop or 2 for me. LOL!! Im learning though.

Welcome to MFP, and the very best of luck with your weight loss, and diabetes control. Feel free to add me as a friend, and the same goes with your wife. The more friends we have, the better support we have.

    Welcome!

Good Luck with your weight loss pursuits. I find that you have to measure everything. That way you know exactly how many calories you are getting and can enjoy the foods you like, even if it is just a modest serving.
