Chocolate

I'm a chocoholic... MILK chocoholic. I can give up carbs and sugars for the most part, but I really struggle giving up my chocolate. Any suggestions for a low calorie and tasty substitute? I'm on a 1000 calorie goal.

Milk chocolate is already the most bastardized lower calorie form of chocolate. Chocolate actually gets more calorie rich as you go up in cocoa % (with muddy areas below 50% considering candy formulations).

1,000 calories only a day? Why so little? No suggestions other than perhaps you may want to check this calorie goal.

Why are you at a 1000 calorie goal? That's both dangerous and unsustainable as an energy level . Your body burns that just running your vital organs. If you had a more adequate calorie goal, you could enjoy milk chocolate every day.

Why do you need to give up chocolate? Buy good dark chocolate. Eat a small piece every day. I could never give mine up. :noway:

You don't need to give up chocolate or carbs or sugar, and you need to net more than 1000 calories.

Edited to change "eat" to "net." You need to net more than 1000 calories, assuming you're not 4 feet tall. I doubt you're burning 600 calories in exercise every day, too. That's pretty tough to do for an average person.

Where is that "road map to sexy pants" link...anyone...?

why 1000 calories, I would be so ornery if only allowed myself 1000 calories a day!! I still have about 45lbs to lose, and I eat on average 1500 calories per day depending on my workouts. And I would not give up chocolate, EVER! Matter of fact I just had a Hershey miniature and it was muy delicioso!!

1000 net calories is what we all understood. Depending on your height and weight, you should probably be eating closer to 2200 calories and netting around 1600.

Definitely need more calories. And a good substitute is dark chocolate... as to why anyone even likes milk chocolate is a mystery to me- ick

eta: If you really like it, adjust your calories and find a way to fit it in from time to time :) )

MFP sets the deficit....eat the calories burned back.

You don't have to give up chocolate in order to lose weight, but if the temptation is more than you can bear then try a women's multivitamin that contains magnesium. Apparently if you crave chocolate it's quite likely that you're lacking magnesium.

Dark chocolate is also a good substitute. It curbs the craving a LOT faster than milk chocolate does.

    This!^

Dark chocolate (Ghiradelli squares) give me much more chocolate flavor for the calories.

If you're desperate try hot chocolate, fudgesicles, chocolate laced tea (Mayan Cocoa Spice)....but these just don't hit the spot like the real thing.

I make oatmeal bars with dark chocolate chips and bananas as the sweetener and binding ingredient. I find that with the sugar from the bananas, I don't even notice the bitterness of the dark chocolate. http://www.muscleandfitnesshers.com/recipes/clean-chocolate-chip-bars

That is a really low goal, but other than that, what is wrong with eating some milk chocolate? I have 3 hershey kisses every night after dinner. I just fit it in.

No reason to give up chocolate all together. They say dark chocolate is good for you! My quick fix for chocolate is a 40 calorie popsicle brand frozen fudge bar or a few semi sweet chocolate chips.
