Low cholesterol recipes?
Guess I posted this in the wrong place... reposting here!
Thanks
Doctor ordered a low fat/low cholesterol diet and also trying to loose around 70 more pounds. Anyone have similar goals and an open food diary, or ideas/recipes? Mostly breakfast and lunch, I get bored with oatmeal or cold cereal for breakfast and soup or salad for lunch. Could use some dinner ideas too! Oh, and I work, but have a fridge and microwave available, but I don’t eat out or eat boxed up meals. I try to eat natural whole foods. (my Diary is open, so you can see TRY is the key word there!!) I made a change starting today and am replacing my coffee creamer and the milk for my oatmeal or cereal with Almond Milk (I bought the silk, non sweetened). Any more changes or ideas? I have to get cholesterol checked again in March and DO NOT, DO NOT want to end up on meds the rest of my life!!
Thanks

Check out this site on the South Beach Diet:

Beware that it is a huge and active site with tons of info. South Beach Diet was developed by Dr. Agatson, a cardiologist, specifically for his patients as a means to get them healthy, mainly by reducing their cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. A great side effect is that it also promotes weight loss and can become a healthy way of eating for the rest of your life. It concentrates on eating lean meats and low glycemic fruits, vegetables, and grains.
I can tell you that this plan has lowered and kept my cholesterol down for close to 10 years now (without medication!), as well as controlled my weight. Whenever I need to shed a few extra pounds I return to Phase 1 for a few weeks before continuing on in Phase 2.
Best of luck to you!0 -
Thanks!! I'll go check that out!!0
