Joining a gym

I am joining a local gym tomorrow, it allows you to do month by month sign ups so it's not too much of a long term commitment but i have always been afraid to join a gym and then not go. I feel very motivated and committed right now but how do YOU stay committed?

Any specific things you tell yourself or do before heading to the gym? Maybe a nice workout outfit? haha

I plan on doing 3 of the classes a week, body pump, cx worx and spin. They are my favourite ones. So hopefully that aspect will keep me going.

The only way I stay motivated is you MUST keep your end goal in mind EVERY MINUTE of the day.
You lose sight of that and you slip into toastville real quick..

So as soon as i wake up and don't feel like going, in reality i just need to get up and go ! It's always hard to struggle with your mind

I think you just gotta keep going until it becomes routine. Work in a time (early morning before work or on the way home) that just suits your schedule and make it happen. It also helps me to think of it as a job I have to do for myself. I go to work and take care of those responsibilities so I can earn money, I go to the gym to workout and improve my health and fitness (and an awesome body). I just kind of equate it to that and it helps me!

Just keep your goals in mind and push yourself. :) Shelling out some cash might make you kick it into high gear to make the most out of the gym as well.

Just keep going! The first day that I worked out in a gym (9 years ago), I barely lasted 10 minutes on an elliptical. It's so much a part of my routine now that I miss it if I don't go. Good luck!

i like classes, i find i work out well by myself, but push harder in a class. you can get to know people after a while too!

try some different ones, you have more chance of finding stuff you like. which ever way you go, the more often you go - like 3 times a week if you can, the fitter you will get and you will feel going more. don't take it so seriously at the beginning - make it fun!

varying what you do can be good too - doing exactly the same class three times a week might not give you repair time if you did the class well and they do the same moves/exercises each session. if you are still sore, you might not want to go.

i'm more an afternoon guy - i find them easier to get to. on the weekend i try to get to a morning class around 8.30am - them i can get to! lol

anything you do will burn more calories then sitting at home.

    good luck!!!
