In need of some help/ motivation

I began my journey on MPF in April of 2013 at roughly 165lbs with an initial start weight of 185. In October of 2013 I had reached my goal weight of 135 and at one point got down to 130 unintentionally. At that time I had started to get nasty comments about being "too thin" and this was discouraging as I was feeling the best I had in years! I had not been that thin ever in my adult life, the lasttime I was 135 was probably in the 6th grade. Throughout my weightloss I was suffering from tendonitis in both my shoulders which made every exercise and basically every movement painfull but I pushed through it because I was determined to get healthy, lose the weight, and I was convinced if I lost the weight my shoulders would magically get better. After reaching my goal I started attending physiotherapy for my shoulders and was told I was most likely doing more harm than good with my exercises. This information combined with already reaching my goal weight discouraged me from exercising all together, I had lost all motivation to continue. I did however continue to eat my maintenance calories and have maintained my weight but I have started to feel my health deteriorate and have started feeling like I used to. I really want to start exercising again and get back on track to becoming healthy, I am just in need of some motivation. I am looking for friends with similar goals that will help me stay motivated to continue exercising!

Hi, sorry to hear about your rocky journey. My journey is only starting now. But I am no new to pain... because of old injuries caused by dancing and sports, I stopped exercising and picked up a lot of weight which I am now trying to lose by doing appropriate exercise and healthy eating. If you want to you can add me. I try to post motivating stuff for myself and my other MFP friends. If not, good luck with the rest of your journey and check out "motivational vids" on youtube. There are quite a lot.0

Hi! Feel free to add me, I'm aiming for 120lbs eventually though I haven't been anywhere near that for years. My weight has gradually crept up until I now weigh as much as I did when 9m pregnant and I feel unhappy with my body. I've suffered from sciatica on and off for almost a year but I'm hoping that the right kind of exercise will help with that as well. What kind of exercise routine have you got planned?
I'll send you a friend request! I am currently logging in daily and could do with some mutual support!0 -
Thanks guys! I will definitely add both of you0

Hi, I wouldn't put too much stock into the people that say you are too thin. That comes from them seeing you making lifestyle changes that they know they should make, them feeling bad about themselves, and them trying to bring you down in an effort to make themselves feel better about their lack of effort. If you feel good (besides the shoulders...that really stinks), then you are doing what is right for you. Way to go.
I'd be happy to help motivate you. I'm in a similar boat. I don't want to lose more weight. I'm perfectly happy at 173 lbs (27 year old dude). My goal now is to get a bit more lean and transition to gaining muscle.
Also, since you're struggling with motivation, I help to run support groups through Facebook. We have lots of people in there that are improving themselves and helping everyone else to stay accountable. We teach about proper nutrition and how to exercise. I'd be happy to chat with you about it if that is something that you're looking for.
