Sounds to me like you are going at this backwards. If you want to get fit and a flat stomach that requires muscle, which requires calories and heavy things. Rather than try to undereat when you aren't overweight you should probably try to eat more and lift heavy weights. Put on some muscle.

MFP is quite notorious for setting calorie goals FAR too low, regardless of height and weight. For example, it told me to eat 1200, and my BMR (the bare amount of calories I need to LIVE) is 1280. And I am extremely tiny like you, only 5 feet. So being only an inch shorter than me, it is almost a CERTAINTY that you are eating too little. (This can result in lean muscle loss, chronic fatigue, metabolism damage, and bingeing due to over-restriction.) I am eating 1,700 to 1,800 calories a day, and an still losing weight at a moderate clip.

    Go to

    http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

    and enter your height/weight/activity level.

Subtract 10-20% from the number it calculates for you, and that is the number of calories you should be eating a day in order to lose weight. With this method you do not eat back your exercise calories, as they are already figured into your daily goal.

Also, the best way to get a flat stomach is to lift heavy weights. Start a weights program like StrongLifts or New Rules of Lifting For Women. You will be thrilled with what weightlifing can do for your body!

If my calculations are correct, you're trying to go from 110ish to 98lbs?

Check your target loss per week goal. It shouldn't be set higher than 0.5 or 1 per week with so little to lose. Also make sure you're at the right activity level. (Sedentary is ridiculously low, I've heard.)

I'm 5'0 (with more to lose) and eating about 1550 calories a day while losing about an lb a week. MFP started me on 1200 calories, but I realized it wasn't the best goal.

Well, I'm a couple inches taller than you, but found myself in a similar quandary a couple years back. I know it's been said 1,000,000,000,000,000 times on this forum, but the answer really is to eat more and lift heavy.

I have put on 8 pounds, but dropped a pants size. I now get to eat more, and be smaller which is excellent. I average around 1800 calories.

Before I took this route it was bodyweight exercises and cardio only for me + a measly calorie intake of 1200 (embarrassingly less sometimes out of sheer desperation)

Thanks everyone i just figured (stupidly) if i lost weight my muscle would show through...

I think a lot of the time ive beem scared to lift in case i bulked out!

Im starting a mon-fri 9-5 desk job where im out at 6.30 home by 7.30 so will only get work outs during my 40 minute walk to work and back from train and anything during weekends.

Im glad i get to eat more though! MFP needs to take another look at how they calculate the calories!

All of this. It's a body composition issue, not a weight issue. If you do not have enough lean body mass, it's going to be hard to get definition. Even at your height, you would probably benefit from adding another 10 lbs of muscle mass, which can be achieve through a couple bulk/cut cycles. And while the below can be a more extreme example, it still demonstrates the benefits of increasing mass.
