Up protein / Lower carbs....HELP!

I often seem to find myself falling short on my protein goal....and easily hitting or surpassing my carb goal.
I have my goals set at 40% Carbs, 35% Protein & 25% Fat.

I could really use some advice on how to up my protein and lower my carbs. OR...should I adjust my goals???

And, fyi, I'm not eating a lot of bread or pasta. Most of the carbs are coming from (I think) fruit, certain veggies, and greek yogurt (which does have higher protein). I'm also not a huge fan of protein powder, but might be willing to give it a try....if I can find a good one. (Where can I find sample packs?? I don't want to buy a big container of it and not like it!)

If you need any other info before giving advise, let me know. I'll share what I need to get some good advice.

Thanks in advance!

Well.... Not sure if you are interested but you could look at a whey protein shake. I just started them today to help build muscle. More muscle burns more fat. Lots of woman take whey as well. Something you might research at least. Good luck!

If you don't like that, try nuts like cashews. High in protein and somewhat low in carbs.

Smaller portions of fruit and vegetables, larger portions of lean protein! Simple swaps make a huge difference- For example, replace the calories of a piece of fruit in the morning with an egg, or add extra lunch meat to a sandwich and take out a certain portion of vegetables.

At most nutrition stores they will have small sample packs of protein powder for relatively cheap and you can find one that you like. If you don't like the taste of protein powders you can find an unsweetened kind and blend it into a smoothie, with frozen fruit masking the taste of the protein.

    Thanks!
Headed to the fridge now to grab some shaved chicken breast to nibble on!

Someone needs to find a way to grow fruits and veggies that have Protein...not carbs!! They'd make a fortune!

It would be a mistake to take out non-starchy vegetables in favour of lean meat. Reduce the fruit instead. I battle with getting enough protein as well because I love to eat fruit so much.

Looking at your diary shows where your carbs mostly come from! the bread! Cut down on it or cut it out and problem solved!

I used to think I could not live without bread and rice and potatoes! My insides love me now! I am not bloated or uncomfortable any more!

I know you did not say anything about those issues but that is what getting those things out of my diet did for me!

    Good luck!

I second that one  I do eat protein bread once in a while and love things like zero noodles to bulk my meals out. Went out for a meal with family a few weeks ago and spent the rest of the night lying on the floor due to the carbs. I have far more energy when I have a low carb day and due to taking protein shakes, chicken, ham, 0% greek yoghurt and tuna, I easily hit my protein on here. Didn't know that I could change the settings of the percent of carb/protein/fat, can anyone guide me on how to do that? I have a post it note on my screen to tell me what I should be hitting as the default MFP isn't right for me

Above all else, you are doing great, keep going xx

I have cut WAY back on the amount of bread I eat....I was that person that could eat a whole loaf of garlic bread in one sitting.
I don't know that I can give up bread or pasta completely...just don't see that in our lifestyle.

But, I will try to cut back more!! Like today, I intended to make my self a little chicken salad sandwich using the left over 1/2 of a ciabatta roll from yesterdays' lunch. Well, instead, I'm going to cram my chicken salad into my sweet mini peppers! ** NO BREAD **

    Baby steps I guess!

Really grateful for everyone's feedback....and encouragement!!
