Hello! I am new to this-how would you classify playing a video game, such as Just Dance 2 in your exercise log? There is a general dance-maybe that one? Thank you!

Depends. Are you moving the WHOLE body or just the arms?

Good question. I havent thought about it until now. My daughter received the game as a Christmas gift. We have played it often and generally do 5-7 dances against one another. Each song is between 3-4 minutes long, and if you are really moving.... you get your heart rate up and break a sweat. I would say that you should log it if you are doing at least minutes worth of dancing where your heart rate is being elevated.

By the way... I won the dance challenge in our house... :-)

I left off the time in my last sentence of my post.. I meant to reference 20 minutes.

I logged it as Dance-General until I got a Heart Rate Monitor.
  • Thats probably my favorite game on the wii! :D I would log how every many minutes as dancing, but make sure you're moving your whole body! Even if its not the exact as the game, you're still moving your body!
I start sweating after 15 mins! What a great idea! :D

I just log it as Dance but I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas so I use that for the calorie burn. Yesterday I burned a little over 500 calories in a hour. I just do the option to repeat songs or I do the "Just Sweat" feature. Good luck and have fun!

    Go Dad! Go Dad!

P.S. My husband plays along with me too. The kids have a ball laughing at us but it is all in good fun and a good workout. :P

I have the game as well. I've been logging it in as ' general-dance'.
The last time I played/danced I wore my heart rate monitor just to see how high it elevated my heart rate. I did all the leg movements as well and it increased my heart rate to 164. I tend to stick to dancing to the songs that make me flail around a lot like 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne and 'Jump in the Line' by Harry Belafonte when I'm trying to 'workout'.

Yes, it is something fun that our whole family does together-Dad too! My goal is to use the Just Sweat for 2000 "sweat points" a day.
