Dressing for your body shape

Like many of you on MFP now, my body has gone through quite a transformation in the past months (30 lbs lost). As I was shopping for some better fitting clothes, I realised that I was always picking up the type of clothes that I used to go for; clothes that would hide the bulges, that would be a little bit lose, that wouldn’t have too many patterns, etc.

Having confidence to wear the clothes to fit a new body shape is proving difficult for me psychologically. Breaking a habit maybe is closer to it.

Has anyone else lived this? Any tips?

I have bought a few pieces to ease into it. I am a bit self conscious wearing the tighter shirts I bought but am slowly becoming more comfortable in them. Try a few pieces to start.

I eased into tighter shirts by first pairing them with skirts. I find skirts to be much more flattering - they are easier to get to fit right since you don't have to worry about saggy butt, and you can pull the waist up a little so no muffin top. I can wear with a voluminous skirt with a tight shirt and look good. Then as I better shrink into jeans, I start putting those same shirts with my jeans.

Also, try things that you don't think you'll like. You might be surprised at how much your style has changed once you have the freedom to wear anything you want.

    That's a great tip :)

Well, since introducing strength training into my workouts, primarily squats and deads, I have practically pushed dress pants and jeans to the back of my closet. From here on out, it's dresses and skirts to cover this booty and these thighs. Seriously, skinny jeans aren't even worth trying on anymore.

As far as your particular situation goes, I would just say to try on anything and everything. At this point, you don't know what looks good on you as compared to how it would have looked on you 30 pounds ago. You might surprise yourself.
