Hi there,
I hear a lot about Pilates lately, sounds like it is a lot of fun. I must confess though: I have no idea what it is... is it some kind of yoga, or cross fit or something?

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates as conditioning for ballet dancers. It is very core muscle intensive. Originally it was done primarily on an apparatus with a sliding bed and pulleys with springs providing the resistance. (Google "pilates reformer") You can take pilates classes at a studio on a reformer or, more common now, mat pilates classes or even DVDs.0

I do Pilates 3-4 times a week. Sometimes the reformer as cantfail below described, sometimes barre, which is using a ballet barre against the wall for balance and strength, and sometimes mat classes. Pilates is all about core muscles, although I've lost inches all over doing it. I can tell you I've been doing it for over a year now, and have lost lots of inches around my middle, and built all over body strength. Love the pilates classes!0

Thank you!
Will take a test class and see if it's for me.0 -
If you have On Demand for cable and it has a sports and fitness section you might be able to see pilates there and maybe try them for free.0
