Why does coffee want to kill me?

I used to be able to drink coffee like a boss, now it's like it wants to take me down. When coffee meets my mouth its like "oh, hello there old friend, fancy meeting you here" and then when it meets my stomach it suddenly starts shouting "destroy!". It feels like someone is reaching into my guts and squeezing them, I also get hot and cold flashed. Just stop drinking coffee, you say? I HAVE! I haven't had any for months and I haven't had it regularly for over a year, but I miss it soooooooooooooooooooooooo much. Weirdly, hot black tea is even worse than coffee. Anyone else have this?

    Gastritis maybe?

I can't take too much acid either. Maybe worth a trip to the doctors to see what's up if you're having such an extreme reaction.

souds like to much acid for your tummy. Try taking over the counter pepcid or something. I take prescription strength, lots of stomach issues, but if I don't coffee is the worst thing in the world  Coffee, tea, citrus drinks - all of those have a lot of acid and will really hurt your stomach if you are prone to gastritis.

Is it all things acid that bother your stomach or could it be just the caffeine? I agree with whoever posted above that such an extreme reaction requires a doctor’s office visit.

This happened to me after a 10-day backpacking trip. Coffee has never sat well on my stomach since then. I can drink a half a cup occasionally, but not on an empty stomach.

Does it help to have to the coffee with food at all?
