You already know you cant spot reduce. If you aren't already doing weight/strength training that's your best bet to build/maintain muscle and reshape your body somewhat. Look into Brett Contreras and Strong Curves for particular attention to the glutes. 1.5 months isn't a lot of time for 2 inches of change, but you might see some small changes in shape.

I am "hippy" too. I know we can't "spot reduce", but if we can burn more fat overall, some of it will come off the hips. So I'm trying to do more strength training in addition to cardio.... my pants are usually OK in the waist, but pulled tighter in the hip-butt area and that's keeping me out of 8s (I toggle between 8s and 10s)

Hi! I suggest that you cut your calories to 1200 per day. Keep exercising daily, and maybe move to Jillian's DVD's. Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism will burn about 410 (for me at 5'3" and 138lbs) in 40 min! Also add a 20 min. weight/cardio blast like 30 Day Shred or Ripped in 30 (also Jillian's). They will burn between 200-250, depending on which level you're doing. Try to do both DVD's 3 days a week, and the weight/cardio DVD's the other 3, and take off 1 day. Maybe do a 3 mile walk if you can't stand taking off completely.

Cut sodium to less than 1000mg per day, drink a gallon of water a day, and eat no later than 7:00. Also, try to avoid processed anything. Go heavy on protein in the AM, before workouts. It will keep you energized!

This added burn plus less calories will see you net an extra loss weekly of at least a pound, taking off extra weight, and making those hips shrink, too! You should lose about 6-8 pounds in that time, plus those 2 inches you need.

Also get on pinterest and look for pins on thigh and hip exercises. Add those in in the evenings while you're watching tv. That's your spot toning. The other is overall weight loss and firming up!

    Good luck. :)

I was just going to post the same thing! My hips haven't moved an inch even after losing 15 pound. I am guessing for me it's just body structure - my hips have always stuck out even at my highest weight of 148 pounds.

I too am somewhat pear shaped. Day 7 of 30 day shred and have lost 1 inch off hips, 1.5 off waist, sadly none off my thighs:(

I'm going to do Jillian Michaels' 30DS for an additional overall body workout and fat burner, but mostly I decided to lose an additional five pounds to reduce some body fat. Some of it should come off my waist and hips. ;-)
