Advice.

Hello im Glenn,just recently joined my local gym and im trying to get my body into some sort of normal state of health iv had two motorcycle accidents and seriously damaged my right shoulder requiring an op and 12months later had another accident and badly damaged my left shoulder (im not riding anymore after taking advice!
im doing an hour in the gym each day and im watching what i eat i just need advice if this is the correct way to go about things!

    That's about right. How is your shoulder? Yoga helps some people.
  • Calories out more than calories in. That's the basic idea.

    You can lose weight (assuming that's your goal) without working out (as long as calories out>calories in) but then of course, you would be missing out on all the benefits. I'd highly recommend working out especially for the extra calories, i.e. you get to eat more. Because food, glorious food.

    A good place to start is to figure out your BMR and TDEE and a good initial read/guide IMO is IPOARM. I don't have the link at hand but just search for it.

    Hi both my shoulders are very weak i did go out on my mountain bike to try and get fitter but ended up having a bad fall on that so my doctor has sort of recomened i stay away from two wheels for a while! :)

    I would find a personal trainer in the area with a Corrective Exercise Specialist certification (CES). They can help improve mobility and strengthen your shoulders as well as help you improve overall body composition. I broke my pelvis and ankle in the military and my trainer did wonders for my recovery almost 7 years after it happened that a physical therapist couldn't seem to fix.
