New, Excited, but intimdated

Hello,
New to this whole experience, but trying to stay proactive as I can be, and that is probably the best/most attractive thing about MFP, a daily log in, really keeps your health in the front of your mind.
Anyway, about crap load of pounds to go, and already setting little goals for myself like a 5k run next weekend.
Would love to find like minded people, It's a bit hard to randomly add people on this thing.

Hi - I am new to this too! I've done Weight Watchers in the past with success but the new program just isn't working for me. I really like how MFP lets you see how much sugar, protein, carbs etc. you consume each day. I've learned just after 1 day that I am consuming way too much sugar - had no idea!

Go ahead and friend me - would love to add you to my network.

    Cheers,

    Erica

    Hi.
I tried WW somewhere in my past, I found myself relying more and more on the products they were selling, and that to me was not what I wanted- I enjoy cooking too much to keep buying premade meals because work went over.

    Thanks for responding.

Look for people in the forums. Read, read, read. Find like minded people that have similar goals, that can inspire you or that make you laugh. Adding lots of people in a hurry, is meaningless - find a connection.

Also, since you're new this month:

Might as well get started on the right foot.

Hi and welcome to MFP! I think the hardest thing about it all is counting the calories. I don't have much time throughout the day to log in everything I eat. I've got 4 kids and the two youngest are still at home. Anyway, what I started doing is planning out exactly what I'm going to eat, log it when I log my exercise in the morning, and don't deviate much from the plan! Right before I go to bed I'll complete the entry and add any extras I may have eaten. Like a couple of cookies after dinner or a handful of popcorn. I've been off and on with mfp, but working very hard on staying consistent this time. I've got about 70 lbs to lose, and my small goals this week were to stay within my calorie goal and to do my workout at least 5 times. So far I'm doing well. Good luck and feel free to add me! =)

There are no magic pills. Only hard work and dedication.

It's about moderation not deprivation. There are no good/bad foods, only bad eating habits. Do or do not, there is no try. You have to want it, you have to work for it, you have to realize that only you can do it.

Welcome! It is a bit daunting to get started, but once you do it is much easier. My experience so far on MFP has been pretty good. Lots of nice people that are supportive. Feel free to add me.

I also will not friend you if you eat under 1200 calories. If I friend you then find out you eat under that or are Pro-Ana I will drop you like a hot potato.

I am a constant work in progress. I have ups and downs. No matter what I keep at it. I don't believe in fad diets or quick fixes. I don't believe in detoxes or cleanses. I believe in being brutally honest, maybe with a touch of snark. It's about moderation not deprivation. There are no good/bad foods, only bad eating habits. Do or do not, there is no try. Thank you (I think)
I don't know where pro-Ana comes in, but I would tend to agree with you, there are no shortcuts or magic pills in anything.
    Thanks for your words.

Log you food and exercise everyday, and log in every little piece of food. If you do this, it will get to a point that this is easy, and really starts to become fun. We are all in this together. Good Luck,

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave that part in. I have all of that on my profile, so it's easy to find. I meant to cut that part out.
