and I have slightly not completely fallen off the health wagon
I have been feeling under the weather since thursday and its been hard to eat healthy especially its that TOM
-Saturday night I had some chips and queso with my salad went over 184 cals
-Sunday first time in almost a year I had chicken wings went over 92 cals
and today I haven't gone over and I am not but had cookies because my mother brought cookies into the house and I couldnt resist.
Other than that I am still eating healthy but I just want to have one day without a downfall!
Any words of wisdom?!?!

Well, I know that when TOM visits me, I get super bad cramps. Like they put me sitting for a long time and barely anything makes them go away. But I was exercising and drinking water and I felt so much better. I've been itching to exercise and just very full of energy. It sounds wonky and like it wouldn't work, but it's helped a lot. That and when I'm craving something, I just chug water and I'm like "Ugh. Could not eat."
Also if you want chocolate, Dove chocolate isn't that many calories and if you suck on it, it lasts a while. Thought I'd throw that out there too.0 -
Take a BIG PEN and draw a BIG LINE under it and start afresh!
Its all about moderation, you cant be 100% good 100% of the time.
Do something else thats health orientated, a big of exercise, or a bit of recipe searching to get your mind back in the right place. Having a vent on here might have helped too .. a bit like confession
Feel better x0 -
Thanks yall
I really like the big pen and big line idea!! My runs usually help me but somedays I just feel overly guilty it seems!0 -
my words of wisdom are dont beat yourself up about it.
1) TOM sucks. it makes you cranky and hungry for bad foods and tired and lazy and you know what? you cant help it. you're a woman, and once a month...yeah it pretty much sucks to be one. and while it shouldnt be an excuse to give up and laze around and eat like crap, it CAN BE an excuse to not be so damn hard on yourself honestly 184 and 95 are not THAT much over your calories, its not like you're going to gain a billion lbs just from that. dont sweat the small things.
And 2) make yourself exercise. its hard, i know it is. and at first it sucks, you're tired and dont want to. but exercise actually helps all the side affects of TOM (cramps, tiredness, etc) and makes you feel better, even if its just a walk around the block, it'll make you feel better.
Aaaaand 3) a multivitamin with IRON in it. thats why you're not feeling well during TOM, you lose nutrients through the bleed and mostly you lose iron which can make you feel weak and "bleh". i watch my Iron here on MFP when i'm on TOM (well actually now i watch it all the time, not just during TOM) and when i get the recommended daily dose of iron (you can go over a little during TOM and it wont hurt you so dont worry too much about just a little over) i feel much better during TOM.
hope this helps!!!!!0 -
I don't mean to encourage eating over your calorie limit. But I DID read once that you actually burn more calories during that TOM, which makes sense. So an extra few calories should be fine! :-)0

Definitely exercise and lots of water. I have exercised at least a few days during my TOM and it has helped tremendously with cramps. I used to turn my nose to people who said that exercised helped them...but once I actually did it, I was amazed! I've only had to use pain relievers (Motrin or Midol) once during the last 3 months because of the exercising. I think it's also helped with cravings because I haven't had any major cravings of chocolate or other bad things during/before the TOM. I have little cravings...but those are easily manageable and I'm able to stay within my calories.
However, having said all that....do what works best for you, going over a little isn't bad. Just get back on track as soon as you can. Stressing over it is the worst thing you can do.0
