Hi all,
I am trying to lose 200+ pounds at the age of 25. I got myself checked out and luckily I am still in decent medical shape (not diabetic, no cholesterol, no high blood pressure). I do suffer from severe obstructive sleep apnea that can be challenging. For the last 2 weeks I have endured a lot.
I weighed myself on Wednesday 28th of June, while my wife was in having her ultrasound done. I weighed in at 412. I was happy cause when I set up my account I thought I was 410, so I was only 2 pounds off. I waited anxiously has my wife was seeing the first glimpses of our baby.
Long story cut short, my wife miscarried and we spent Thursday and Friday in the hospital where she was losing massive amounts of blood and always on the edge of passing out. I never seen her in so much pain and anguish, and I have never been so scared in my life. Now she is home and doing much better and I am so happy to have her as my wife.
I sorta started watching what I was eating that Monday before but I wasn’t truly into it. After experiencing what it would be to feel like you were going to lose a spouse, I decided I had to change.
I have been ballooning all my life since I was a husky preteen and graduated in 07 at roughly 300 lbs. I finished college and after getting comfortable I peaked, 412 lbs. I don’t want me to take my own life with my love obsession over terrible food. To have my wife feel like I did that night in the hospital, where I couldn’t help her.
Since then, I’ve been giving it my all, and that hasn’t been easy. My sleep apnea machine broke about a month ago, and I have been untreated the whole time. Pushing myself for that walk and that 15-20 minutes of a workout video, sometimes is a struggle. But I am happy now that I have stuck to it.
Though the last 2 hard weeks, I lost 14.2 pounds. I don’t know how but I don’t it. Hopefully I keep myself encouraged and keep myself focused for my wife and hopefully, future children.

Firstly, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your baby, what a terrible time for you and your wife but already you have learnt such a hard lesson, that you do not want your wife to ever suffer through losing you. And YOU want to live!
Congratulations on making the changes you have already. You have taken those first steps and believe me they are the hardest.
I know, I started at 370 pounds and have dropped 41 in 4 months!
That first step you ever take will always be the hardest of your journey! Everything after that becomes habit and gets easier.
Get in a routine and stick to it, use my motto of #noexcuses. And if I can do it with 24/7 vertigo and Fibromyalgia, then buddy you can do it to!
Add me if you need any friends to spur you on.
You are doing a GREAT thing for YOU and your family, I wish you great success!!0 -
I'm so sorry for your loss. My AHA moment was March 12th as I was headed to surgery for a hiatel hernia repair, most likely caused from obesity. This is not like me I've stuck with it for 3 months, lost 30 lbs and logging in daily. I have no willpower and no patience but I just take it one day at a time. Add me as a friend and I'll encourage you all along the way. We can do this
Just do it one day at a time. Don't give up if you have an off day ..... just continue. When I finally get to my goal I would have lost 97 lbs. My highest wt was 227. I started here at 215 but weighed 218 and just kept it at my previous weight when I started and quit on MFP before!!!! Since I've lost 30 plus lbs I feel better, I don't hurt as much esp in my feet, and my clothes are comfortable. Have a nice day and blessing on your journey!!!
