The Ponytail:
When you're in public, is there a reason a lot of men like ponytails on women?
I have noticed this and recently started wearing them too. Have to admit,
I've been checked out with the pony tail. [This is so Jerry Seinfeld]. lol

I like it cause I find the neck and shoulder area sexy...

    I like it long.

So is it as sex thang? lol

To me, it's gives the appearance of being lower maintenance, and thus a little less complicated...

It may also be an indicator to us guys of "low maintenance" or "down to earth" girl versus more complex or styled hair confabulations that signal "I will need 90 minutes minimum to get out the door.."

    Red Flag

Does make it nice to sneak up behind and nibble some neck or ears.

But only if it's my sweetie (wifey).

I think it has to do with the long hair, too.

I hate them...female version of a ballcap to me...

It says "I didn't have time to do **** else with my hair"...

It's casual, tom-boy, girl next door look, approachable....we can do it as long as I don't tell anyone.

Thank you for the replies. Is that one reason
why its always Maryanne over Ginger? lol

I find them very feminine, ergo, hot.

hmmm my hair is half way down my back. I was thinking about cutting it to shoulder length. Now re-thinking that idea.

No preference on the ponytails other than I guess it could show off their face better. But I do prefer longer hair most of the time. Maryanne was more down to earth than Ginger who was annoyingly stuck on herself.

I agree with the comfortable low maintenance reasons. I also prefer no makeup for the same reason.

Pigtails are a dirty schoolgirl fantasy for most.

    PONYTAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I LOVE PONYTAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I'm at work or I'd find ponytail pics to clutter up this thread with)

    Yes, OP. Ponytail = good.

edit: I'm supposed to say WHY I like ponytails. Not real good at following directions, sorry. I think it does express a little more low maintenance attitude as well as an athletic-type look. Ponytail, a football jersey and yoga pants?? Ummm....yeah, zero ability to say no.

that's different...and as a sports fan and attender of a university where people actually cared about sports, could be functional.

I alternate between long hair and ponytails, it depends on the mood. The men I've dealt with don't care, they just like long hair.

No. It's because Mary Anne knows how to make a sammich.

Ponytails are very "youth-like". Since pony tails equate to youth, youth equates to a woman who can successfully bear a child for a man which instinctively and naturally is what we go for.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. :drinker:

Keep those pony tails loose though. And it's really sexy if it's long enough to hang over your shoulder.

I hate it when they pull their hair back so tight it makes their eyes squint.

Probably should keep the pigtails at home, though. I agree with the schoolgirl thing on them. :blushing:

    Take your pick:
    • Low maintenance vs. high maintenance
    • Ready-to-go vs. I need another 5 minutes (aka 2 hours)
    • Not scared to get dirty vs. Ewww, I ain't doing that!
    • WYSIWYG vs. OMG, what are you hiding under all that?

Finally, have you seen how they've aged? #MaryAnneFTMFW

I've NEVER seen my wife with a ponytail, ever... Probably because she'd look like the Wendy's Mascot if she did. That would probably be really cool.

The thing about us men is....we don't have reasons for liking things....we just like it.

agree with many of the others. It projects this image of low maintenance, approachable, girl next door, natural beauty, fun, sporty. It is all those things. Someone mentioned Mary Ann vs Ginger ... that's a pretty good analogy I think.
