Diet Chef (UK)

Hello!

So I've just forked out the £200 odd for my 4 weeks supply of Diet Chef breakfasts, lunches, snacks & dinners. I'm having a small panic attack about the money I've just spent along with the foods I've chosen - topped with the normal 'oh-my-gosh-how-am-I-going-to-get-through-this' jitter.

I am confident that I know as much as possible prior to starting the plan. I've read a lot into the reviews, success AND failure stories, I follow the FB page & at the end of the day it comes down to commitment - but then again, which diet / healthy eating plan / exercise regime doesn't?

My concern is that once the 'novelty' wears off that I wont know where to turn for inspiration & advice. So if there is anyone else out there that is currently doing this or is also about to start it - please share your experience/concerns. Also - if you have links on forums (couldn't find one on MFP) / support groups etc to share PLEASE do!

The UK one I looked at was 1200.

I was wondering about it too (I'd have to top it up as I'm on 1650 calories at the moment). So interested to see people's experiences.

As otter090812 mentions - The UK one is based on supplying you with around 900 calories in a breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner and gives you 300 calories to 'bulk out' your meals with yogurts / salads / veggies etc :)

Lol Tell me about it Shropshire1959! BUT - Between lunches at work (that im terrible at planning ahead for so purchase) & ingredients for dinners at home (that costs me roughly £40 pw) I'm not exactly out of pocket either :) So bacon & eggs will take a back-seat while I enjoy oats & muesli!

I have friends who have lost several stone each on DietChef, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I think you have to be fairly committed to it, and not eat anything "off plan", but the same is true of any weight-loss diet. Good luck!

Hi - I bought the 28 day Dietchef plan. The first week was great, lost a couple of lbs and in the 2nd week I got sick and haven't been able to stomach anything Dietchef related since. Its wasn't DietChef which made me sick but just the thought of it makes me want to gag now.

If you are in the right mindset and focussed you will lose weight on this diet, but the portions are small and have a certain "prepacked" taste about them. The breakfast bars are totally yummy!

It would be better if they offered something other than soup for lunch, theres only so much soup a girl can consume....

What are you planning to do after the 4 weeks? I am not really familiar with the diet chef plan, but honestly you could spend a day planning a healthy well balanced diet with a decent amount of calories and likely get the same results. But good luck. :flowerforyou:

£200 for a month. Isnt it strange that these companies tell you that this is how to lose weight?

What they dont tell you is that all they do is give you less food but charge more for the privilege. All of a sudden it doesnt see so appealing.

    Oh the power of marketing.....

Haha! I thought that as well! Bought some of the protein bars & the pasta as well to change it up

What I don't mention in the post but I touch on in my profile is that I am doing diet chef for the portion control. On a day to day basis I don't heat unhealthy foods but I wouldn't think much of polishing a 300g steak and a baked potato along with salad and roast veg etc. Initially it will be about programming my body to accept smaller amounts of food & once I am in that routine I can go back and plan healthier meals etc.
Which I have done before by the way - but unfortunately it takes a lot of preparation and because I live with my parents it is easier to eat what they prepare than still going through the efforts of cooking for myself after a full days work.

They didn't tell me that £200 is the way to loose weight. Like I said - I did read a lot into reviews/opinions etc. I spend that amount on food in a month anyway so financially there is no difference for me - its just a 1ce off expense rather than the £7-9 I spend per day. What I took from it all and what appealed to me personally was the fact that I don't have to do all the planning myself (just yet anyway). I can keep my breakfasts, snack & lunches at work so I never have an excuse of not being prepared and all I need to do extra for dinner is steam / bake / boil my veggies.

I KNOW & am VERY aware there is no 'quick fix' and that 'healthy food & activity' is the "proper way" to do it. Promise. This lifestyle mission is just that - a lifestyle for LIFE. Its not juicing / 5-2 / paleo or whatever. Its 'everyday foods' in smaller portions & I'm gonna give it a good go! :drinker:

So I get that bumping my own post may seem vain but I had a woman add me today because she saw this & I can only imagine how much she must have scrolled through to get to it.

I've just completed my first week & have loved finding people along the way that are also working with the Diet Chef plan.

If there is anyone else out there doing this & wants more support - feel free to add me and I'll connect you with the other girls and boys doing this as well :)

HI, I eat diet chef. I'm trying to keep my maintenace weight at the mo and I'm on one of Diet Chefs maintenance plans. I chose to have breakfasts and lunches delivered. I think it is a great diet. Portion control was my enemy, in many cases not eating enough at meal times then having a bit of bread and maybe a bisuit as I was hungry, I was amazed with Diet Chef how much I actullay could eat and still be able to bulk my calories out with fruit and veg. My diary is open, feel free to friend me. I'm currently between sentenses trying the their new couscous lunches at the mo - it's very nice. Only tip to newbies on diet chef would be avoid the things they call sausages!

I had great success with diet chef, I have a lot of food intolerences; artificial colouring, sweetners, excess sugar, symptoms varying from skin rash to difficulty breathing. I have not had a single reaction to a diet chef product.

Also if there is a problem with a product, such as a pack arriving damaged (it's only happened once and I've been on it for a while) a quick call to their customer services and they replace it without question.

Thats exactly what I found appealing about diet chef - the portion control. When I went back to 'normal' eating I was pleasantly surprised at how much I USE to eat vs how much I can eat now. Diet chef dinners could fit into my breakfast bowl so that was what I had it in - esp things where there were sauces involved. I noticed if I dish up a plate of food now I can still only eat what would fit in the breakfast bowls. That and the convenience of everything being planned. I open the cupboard in the morning and choose what i feel like knowing that depending on what I bulk out with I will 100% stay under calories and within my macros :)
