Both a success and a "failure"

In the past three months I have gained 30 pounds, but I have completely quit smoking cigarettes! I still consider it a victory because i feel like I've lost 30 pounds. I can finally breathe again! I'm carrying around extra baggage but I can stay active much longer without getting winded. Time to buckle down on my nutrition again and catch up. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change :)

Well done ! Giving up smoking is the single best thing you can do for your health. I gave up 11 years ago and never looked back x

I so respect you and any person who doesn't allow fear of gaining to keep them from quitting. My quit date is next month and I'm thoroughly afraid. But, it helps when others share posts like these. Congrats and so good on you!

This is my personal opinion but you made the right choice! It takes A LOT of will power to quit and you should be commended! My father has COPD and it is horrible... I would not wish it on ANYONE!!! I see anyone that smokes and I want them to see ONE DAY in my fathers life now and beg them to quit!

Now on to the next step.... take it one day at a time, one meal at a time and one choice at a time and you will get where you want to go.

Congratulations ! Major life victory ! My thoughts are, you can always drop the weight, but it's very difficult to get a second heart and lungs, right?
Count your blessings, stick with the non-smoking, and you will be able to breathe better and start to get your fitness in so you can lose that extra weight. Great job !

Well done on quitting, sadly its much easier to quit smoking than it is to lose weight! I'm not saying that to de-motivate you, I hope this will prepare you for the challenge ahead (I wish someone had given me a similar piece of advice!).

Good luck with the weight loss now, fore-warned is fore-armed!

As an ex smoker I totally get it  I gained weight too when I quit but the health benefits of not smoking far outweighed, no pun intended, some extra weight! You've done the tough part by quitting smoking, now comes the easy stuff in comparison. Losing weight was not hard, in fact I found it pretty easy. You hit the nail on the head by saying it is not a diet but a lifestyle change. It takes some adjusting but you can do it because if you can quit smoking then you got this in the bag

I was smoke-free for 4 years before I decided to get onto my fitness journey. One struggle at a time. Well done! Keep it up!
