Subway

Hello! I was wondering what you guys like to get from Subway that's low cal? I used to get subs that were ridiculously high in calories and now I'm not sure what's the best option. As a college kid with a Subway right by campus, it's usually super quick and easy to grab something from there in-between class if I forget my own lunch. So what do you all suggest?

In the UK the sandwiches have the cals listed on the menu. Low fat turkey with everything but onions and no dressing is my favourite.0

I eat Subway every Friday - my girls have dance from 5-7:30 and it's right in the parking lot.
I get a 6" Turkey on white - with lettuce, tomato and onion - sun chips on the side. Sorta boring, I know
They also have a "fit" menu (can't remember what it's called), and you can build your own sub on their website to see what you want has nutrition wise.0 -
Stick with a 6 inch and it will usually be relatively low cal. I normally eat the Black Forest ham on wheat, loaded up veggies and a bit of mustard. Don't do the tuna or meatballs or anything like that. Skip the cheese if you want lower calories. And if you're in mood of a salad they will make any sub a salad for you, but it will relatively more expensive than a 6 inch.
Oh and don't get chips or cookies or anything sugary drink.0 -
I like the turkey breast on oat with spinach, tomatoes, pickles, onions, green pepper, cucumber and honey mustard.
I once substituted avocado for the honey mustard and it was so bad. I don't know what they did to that poor avocado.0 -
all the veggies on italian bread with sub sauce
and then put vegan cheese on it at home if i feel like it0 -
6" honey oat bread with either turkey or roast beef, pepper jack cheese, spinach, tomatoes, onions, pickles, olives, spicy mustard.0

You can turn any sandwich into a salad there. I get a salad with turkey breast or chicken or black forest ham with lots of veggies and a fat-free dressing. They have 3 or 4 fat-free dressings. I don't get any cheese or high fat dressings. I don't get snacks or sugary drinks. Their salads are pretty filling and good!0

I agree..... I get a 6" turkey on white with extra spinach, cucumber, tomato and Dijon mustard. (swiss cheese occasionally too!) It's filling, delicious and relatively low cal compared to other options. Good luck!0 -
Here's their list of sandwiches with calories breakouts. http://www.subway.com/nutrition/nutritionlist.aspx
If you click on particular sandwich on the menu it will bring up a screen that shows you the sandwich and the calories and if you look on the right you can see a yellow button "Calculate Yours". Let's you calculate the calories for your custom sandwich.

My personal preference is buffalo chicken ranch with lots of veggies. I get a little cheese melted on top and tell them to go easy on the ranch. Sweet onion sauce is also really good, could try that instead of ranch.0 -
Thanks everyone! I had no idea you could go on their website and calculate the calories there, I just checked it out and it's very helpful!0

I go for a 6" veggie delight on wheat bread or the salads. They're so tasty!0

Their Double Chicken Chopped Salad is fantastic. I go once a week just to get that.0

depends on what you quanitfy as low cal
i get a chipolte chicken on a foot long flat bread. light lettuce and pickle. nothing else, its about 480 cals. i get this every friday for lunch and sometimes on the weekends0 -
I always just get a salad0

Their bread, is what makes up for most of the kcal. If I sit in, I opt for a salad, with all the trimmings, except for the dressings and the chillies *cough* Mac Donalds, do salads as well.0

We have a Subway right next to our campus, and they take our university's dining plan points, too. I find it sometimes a better choice at a better price than campus cafeteria meals.
I stick with these choices: 6 inch (Italian or Whole Wheat bread)
Roast Beef, Turkey, Black Forest Ham, or Oven Roasted Chicken
No Cheese (unless I choose No meat, then add 40 cals)
All the veggies except olives
Sweet Onion sauce (only 40 cals and tastes great to me)
Regular mustard if you like (5 cals)
NO MAYO (seriously, they must squirt 1/4 cup of that stuff on the sub, lol)
If I recall correctly, any of those choices will log in around 330-390 cals or so. Add chips or apple slices if it fits your calories and appetite.0 -
Veggie delight 6" wheat lots of everything oil vin s&p and oregano0
-
I always just get a salad
Awesome weightloss. You look great!0 -
I once substituted avocado for the honey mustard and it was so bad. I don't know what they did to that poor avocado.
My husband came home with a sandwich from Subway and was pretty excited that they had added avocado to the menu because he loves it. He took one bite and threw the rest out because of the weirdness of the avocado.0 -
I generally get a six inch ham with provolone on Italian bread, with mustard, oregano, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and green/banana peppers. It fits with my macros perfectly!0
-
Avoid mayo and oil. I added 200 cals just from mayo last time i went.0
-
salad option, any meat.0

6" Whole wheat, Chicken, turkey, roast beef or ham. No cheese but any veggies, lettuce you want. No mayo, No oil, spicy mustard is the only sauce you can use. Should come in between 350 & 400 calories.0

Here is a tip hopefully some of you will find helpful. Ask them to take the middle out of the bread, they do it all the time for people. Then you can load up on extra veggies and have about 1/2 the bread calories.0
-
Salad! They are huge and filling.0

Most Subways now have that "watching calories?" sign that shows like five or six 6-inch subs that are relatively low in calories. Less that 350 I think. I usually always get the turkey breast and black forest ham with spinach, cucumbers, green peppers, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers and mustard.
Subway is probably one of the easiest "fast food" places to eat healthy at.0 -
Ove roasted chicket breast and I have them put the buffalo sauce on it. Very, very good. Roast beef is pretty good as well.0
-
Wow so glad I used their website to see my calories for what I usually get cause I have bee calculating my calories all wrong0
-
This thread made me have to go to Subway for my lunch today.0
