until I started stuffing my face! Why do I do this to myself. I just don't know what to do! What is it that all of a sudden triggers the pigging out! I just don't understand.

This almost happened to me yesturday with pizza...I think its because you hold yourself back so much as soon as you get a chance you over eat. Try drinking water before your goin to eat and chew your food slower. That's what helps me get some control back.0

I think there was a discussion on here a few weeks ago about 'trigger foods' - if you find it's always the same food that leads to overindulging, it might be helpful to read that. This is the case with me: there are certain foods that I just can't eat in moderation - chocolate being the main one! I have a little, then a little more, and then I think " well, there goes the diet for today!" and eat a whole lot more! So now I just stay away from chocolate altogether - I don't buy it, or even let myself look at it in the shops. If I do eat it, I make sure I do so in front of other people so I'm too worried about what they'll think to overeat.
But mostly I'd say just don't stress about it too much or let this slip-up start off a whole week of over-eating - just get right back on track with the healthy eating tomorrow, and not that much damage will have been done, trust me! :flowerforyou:0 -
I know the feeling! Yesterday was rough. My boyfriend and I went out to eat at Applebees, and it was sooo hard to find something somewhat healthy rather than the quesadilla burger that I always get. I settled for one of the weight watchers menu items and ate my brocolli with disgust as my boyfriend enjoyed his burger. Then when we got home, he got out a carton of icecream, and I just left the room because the temptation was immense (he eats like a pig and doesn't gain a pound, and it sickens me! lol)
Sometimes you just have to think of what exactly you are putting in your body, and whether all of your hard work is really worth the pigging out. What I am trying is, if I have a good week, I will allow myself to have something desirable to eat, just not as much as I would normally have. So, I think in moderation, eat those things that are enjoyable to you, just pace it, and don't pig out.

I have been doing those things u mentioned but I think your right. I have been holding myself back since I have got on the 1200 cal a day diet my personal trainer put me on. I feel like crap today but I will do my hardest to stay on track today. Thanks for the input!0

I am the EXACT same with chocolate! I try to avoid all together and have told myself to eat just a little but that's never the case! I pig out on it cause it's like a drug for me. It's nice to hear someone else sounds the same. (hypnosis doesn't help either) :0(0

I have that problem as well. I think that this is something everyone suffers with, just some people are blessed with the metabolism to burn it off! :mad:
I started giving myself Sundays "off" from the food diary. I can eat what I want and not count. This happens to be the day that I play Ultimate Frisbee every week so I know I am going to burn out a lot, but even if I don't play, I don't worry. This makes it so much easier to tell myself not to indulge the rest of the week. I know that I have a day to eat what I want and that I can save that craving for that day. The great part about it is that by putting off the craving, I am teaching my body/mind the willpower that I am so lacking. Usually, by Sunday I am not so interested in whatever it was and the small twinge of guilt in knowing that whatever I DO eat isn't actually "free" just because it's Sunday, keeps me from totally going overboard! :ohwell:

i think its bordom if im not working i will drop the kids off to school hold out on my breakfast till i get back then after eating breakfast i get my butt out of the house or find a project.this morning i went shopping trying on a bunch of clothes then went and bought a exercise outfit.my morning past and im sitting having my lunch of 1 egg 5 crackers trying to eat it slow..then ill pop my butt outside for a bit till its time to get the kids then off to cardio for a hr then dinner and bammmm its bedtime.i like the pother girls idea about having a day that you just dont count these blasted caories then you dont feel as thou you have deprived yourself but just dont over do it.get that cheescake and take a bit stick it in the fridge then take a bite a hour later if you like and so on0

I think that the overindulging comes from denying yourself the things you want. I suppose it depends on what kind of diet you are on, but for me I'm just making sure I don't go over my calories and I try not to go over my fat portion for the day. So, therefore, if I want chocolate cake, I have one of my single serving microwavable chocolate cakes (150 calories) and I'm good. I feel like I got my treat and I didn't overindulge. I really believe the key is to allow yourself "treats" everyday. I make sure to eat at least one thing everyday that is "bad" if I want it. :happy:0

Maybe I have a different view than most, but here is what I do to keep myself on track. I give myself one day a week to eat what ever the heck I want. For example, Monday- Friday I maintain a 1200 calorie diet (or whatever I need based on my BMR versus exercise for that day) I take a day off from the gym on Friday, and workout extra hard on Saturday morning-- Saturday being my have fun and eat out day. Sunday morning, I start fresh with a new week and a new view. This way I dont feel like through out the week when I get those cravings that I will never be allowed to eat it again. Instead, I feel like, WOW-- I am totally gonna eat that on Saturday!!! -- So far this has worked out great!!!0

wow thanks everyone for the input. Sorry I'm just now responding. I am still figuring out this website. The comments about saving the indulging for 1 day a week sounds like something I should try to do although not sure if I can. I have my cravings everyday it seems like but I will try it. Thanks!0
