Macro question...

Okay, so I have my carbs set to 90 per day ( I am diabetic and have PCOS) so I want to be lower on those. What should my fat and protein be at considering that then? Thanks in advance.

Look at your carbs, fat, and protein in percentages. So, say your carbs are at 40% - a decent goal would be 30% fat and 30% protein to offset your 40% carb. I for one, have found that a diet higher in healthy fats works for me. My carbs are currently set to 20%, my fat 50%, and my protein 30%. That is not for everyone, but from tweaking my ratios this is what I've landed on for now. Everyone has their own sweet spot. I would suggest to start out on a 40/30/30 or something similar that keeps your carbs where they need to be for PCOS and do that for 5-7 days. See how you feel and make some changes if you need to. It's really all about how your body thrives.
  • Thank you! Right now I have them at 30 carb 40 fat and 30 protein. We'll see how that goes. I'm sure there will be a tweak or two I need to make along the way. :)

I have PCOS and am prediabetic. I set mine at 40/30/30 but am usually under on carbs and over on fats. My main focus is trying to meet the protein. As my dietician told me, you need to play with it to find what works for you.

you should be more concerned with complex carbs/ sugar ratio , take a look at the Glycemic index of the carbs you are eating
    http://www.glycemicindex.com/
I know its a lot to take in all at once , but once you know which carbs contain the most sugars you can avoid them
  • Got it. :) I will take a look at this in a bit. Thank you!
