Does anyone know how to cook quinoa in a slow-cooker? I'm not looking for a whole recipe with other things added, like chicken or tofu or something. Just some plain ol' quinoa to use as a side dish.

  • The direction on the box of Trader Joe's Quinoa says to simply treat quinoa like rice. add two parts water to one part quinoa, stir, cover, and cook. I hope this helps. I just made it yesterday on the stovetop but I have never made in my rice cooker. Let me know how it comes out.

johncinarch is right, just cook quinoa the same as you would cook rice. It takes less time, but the ratio of grain:water is the same. Remember to rinse the quinoa once or twice before cooking though, as it has the tendency to come with some grit. The coating on the seed will make the water you rinse it with turn a bit "frothy", that's normal.

    Happy cooking!
  • Never used it in a slow cooker. Just on the stove with some extra veggies added to it. Sorry. But its really good. It cooks just like rice.
