Ideal weight for my height?

So, around what weight should i get to in order for weight training to benefit me? I am a 6ft 3 male, and i weight around 193lbs. I have lost 30lbs of fat but personally feel that i could do with losing a little more weight, so i have recently been doing more cardio than weights. Don't get me wrong, i still do weight training but am i right in saying that running (intervals) will help me shred off unwanted fat and show off more muscle?

But the main question is...is 193lbs for a 6ft 3 male a decent weight? I am 19 years old if that makes any difference :)

weight training is always beneficial, no matter what your weight. It helps retain LBM. I absolutely believe if I had done nothing but cardio and no resistance training I would look much different than I do now. Cardio is important for health as well, so nothing wrong with that. As far as ideal weight, honestly I find there really isn't one. Focus on body fat % to rule what you think, rather than weight. There are some people on here smaller than me in size at 15 lbs up from me, at the same height. It's because they have more lean mass than me and less body fat overall.

Yeah i see what you're saying. Is there an easy way to check body fat % accurately? Because I once used an online calculator with a friend once, and he is pretty ripped...according to the calculator we are both obese ! lol

Ya, online calculators suck! The most accurate would be a dexascan or something similar from a doctor's office but I know calipers can work, too. It's still flawed but a way you can at least start gauging progress overall. The Eat, Train, Progress group leaders do body fat assessments, too. Just read the stickies and the rules for posting. That's where I got my baseline % to work from. :) Hope this helps

    Depends on your goals.

Nobody can tell you what a good weight is for your height. Nobody. Some 6'3" guys will look lean and built at 193, some 30 pounds or more lower. There's a small framed over 6 foot tall, really athletic guy who posts here that is in his 130s and looks awesome (even though he's trying to gain some I believe).

Me personally, I wouldn't even think of bulking up until my body fat was in the 10-12% range. I want to see clearly what I'm working with at that level before I decide if I want to go through a bulk cycle. I see people fat bulking and I don't get it. So if I was looking in the mirror and still seeing lots of flab and blubber I'd keep cutting until it was gone before even thinking about gaining lean muscle mass. But that's just me.

    Hi

I do cardio with strength training and I don't feel my body would look as good as it does without it and I could still do with 7lbs off
