I did it a few years back and lost 20 pounds very fast! It's very restrictive but was filling, made sense and worked.0

What is the Michael Thurman program?0

I tried it and hated it! Wasn't a good program, IMO.0

I tried it about 9 years ago with success, but I gained it all back & then some.... MFP is much better & smarter AND in my opinion faster & healthier!
You cut out too many things with his program & then when you go back to normal eating/normal lifestyle - back it comes.0 -
I DID IT..LOST 30 LBS BUT VERY STRICT AND LOTS OF PREP FOR FOOD...JUST WASNT GOOD FOR ME IN THE LONG RUN.0

I've never heard of it, but from all the replies I guess I'm not missing anything. I have learned that very restrictive eating works great short-term but is not the answer for a life long successful journey. I did a program called "Prisim" and it was very restrictive, I lost 50pds but guess what? I couldn't keep that lifestyle up for the long run:noway:
The calorie watching and just eating healthy is the way to go!! You have to be able to allow yourself to eat those "red-light" foods and work them into your daily calories and key is to not shame yourself for having them.0 -
It is the 6 week body makeover program. They had it on Extreme Makeover a lot several years ago. Yes it was a LOT of prep work and very restrictive. It was all made to your supposed body type after you took a quiz about your eating & lifestyle. I couldn't have any dairy whatsoever. That was very hard for me back then as I used to be a 2-3gallon milk per week drinker. It did help me to cut out a lot of my milk though. Now it takes me about 2 weeks to drink one gallon.
It does work, it is expensive. Plus - once you are done, and eat normally again it starts coming right back. Its a quick fix. MFP is much better & more realistic.0 -
I did it twice. The first time I lost 48 pounds in just over 3 months, the last month I didn't follow it 100%. I gained it all back over the course of 4 years when I went back to normal foods. The second time I lost 35 in 8 weeks, and again gained it back over 2 years when I ate normal foods. While on the plan I did not learn anything about eatting healthy, didn't learn how to live a "normal" life, and got very tired of being told I was not working the plan hard enough by the moderators on the website. Normal life includes some "white foods" and you need to learn how to deal with them. Normal (well mine) life includes dairy in some form or another daily. Normal life includes fats. For me the plan was too restrictive for a lifestyle.0
