Days off.....not to go CRAZY but to let up a bit

I've been on my journey since March 23 and have lost 42 pounds so far :) I'm a diet set by my doctor and follow exactly. I do find that every couple of weeks I go off the diet....not CRAZY off but off none the less. I'm always able to get right back the next day. Does anyone else have this situation? Do you allow yourself a "day off" occasionally and if so has it caused you any problems.
Thanks and Peace,
Lis

My days "off" usually happen when my mood is down. I've been on here since 3-31-14 and it has happened twice. I hate it because I get unmotivated. This last time it caused weight gain. Not much. But I want to lose not gain.

I lift heavy and keep very close track of my diet. Once a month or so I take a week off to "reset" my muscles and mentality. I deload my weights and still track my calories but don't worry so much if I go over. Always been losing the weight.

I eat about the same calories on non-workout days as I do workout days without regard to the fact that I'm clearly burning fewer. So Saturday and Sunday my net is way higher than weekdays with. O negative effects to weightless or body composition.

As long as it's not affecting your goals, listen to your body.

I'm not really on any prescribed diet so there is nothing ot go off, but I do eat (and drink) considerably more on the weekends than throughout the week.

I take day(s) off, and even up to a week.

I dont do it so I can 'eat whatever I want and how much I want' but to test myself to see if I truly have learned how to live and manage my appetite and eating habits, or if I still need more time of "learning" before I can go off on my own.

The "problem" with diets so to speak often times it is because we either just quit, or get where we want and think we can just do whatever and maintain.

    But that doesnt happen often.

To truly make a life change we need to learn how to control what we put into our pie holes. I think time off of religiously counting calories and tracking to see if we can manage without it is a good thing.

I am not quite there, but I am getting much closer than I was 14 weeks ago. I am to the point that I can take days off of tracking everything and I dont go crazy. Heck, I even took a week off and lost 1.4 lbs by just eating when I was hungry and being smart about it. Instead of a full pizza..had a couple slices. Instead of the huge XL ice cream...got a small.

I know your question was to be in a totally different direction and I apologize if I hijacked it, but to me taking days off of this whole thing is more about being able to sustain myself for a lifetime so I never have to go through this tough road of having to cut weight.
