I'm so glad I found this forum, I'm 5'6 and exercise regularly by walking.

I've been feeling terrible trying to stick to just 1400 calories a day.

I'm so confused with all the advice - I was told told to calc my TDEE and take away 500.

It's just not enough, in the afternoon I start to slow down and feel really tired and sick.. So I'm upping to 1700 a day - hey if it takes a year to lose a pound it's better than feeling I'll every day! :-)

Subtract 15 to 25% of your TDEE (higher end only if you have a lot of weight to lose) rather than a flat 500 calories. Depending on your stats and activity levels, 500 could be a large percent of your TDEE, causing you to undereat when you subtract it.
