At-home exercise for a woman who comes home exhausted..?

I am morbidly obese but still perfectly capable of walking and exercising, but motivation is a REALLY big issue when all I want to do is collapse when I come in from work.
Easy exercises I can do in my bedroom... simple and toning, preferably? *is an exercise newb*

What about working out in the morning or going for a walk on your lunch break?
More than likely if you are too tired to go out and exercise, you aren't going to exercise at home either.
But if you think you will, you can always start with workout videos.0 -
If you're seriously dragging you butt when you get home (we all have days like that so I know the feeling) have you considered exercising in the morning?
It may sound counter intuitive but you will probably find you have more energy during the day.

I agree with Amberly, however, I would recommend Leslie Sansones Walking DVD's. They are great for someone who is not in the best shape or cannot move as much (elderlY). I started out doing these videos! To the date, I do them sometimes, and incorporate hand weights and a weighted vest.
They are found at walmart or target and are under 10$ I believe.

Or walk around the neighborhood before you even go in your house after work? Maybe if you don't go inside for just a little bit longer.0

How about starting out with something like doing alternate leg raises - this can be done lying down in your bed! (I must admit I do this sometimes in the morning to help wake myself up and get the blood flowing!) I would get a couple 2 or 3 lb weights...if you don't have that - use soup cans - then you can work your way up to heavier weights. A plank is a wonderful way to work your core - you can modify it by being on your knees and straight arms - even if you can start by holding it for 5-10 seconds that is a great place to start! Even walking in place is a great way to start - just try to raise your knees and swing your arms to get more of a workout. You don't have to do all your exercise at once - the good thing about exercise is every time you do it you kick start your metabolism - so even if you are just doing a little bit here and there it does help!0

Leslie Sansone DVDs are awesome! You can pick them up fairly cheap an walmart, and I believe you can access a lot of her workouts on youtube. I love them because they are for beginners and they are doable after a hectic work day. They are walk at home dvds, you do not need any equipment and its a great way to start a routine. You could do them in the morning, but I always do my work outs in the afternoon because I am not a morning person at all. Good Luck!0

I got started by following different 30 day challenges i found on pintrest. its just an image that tells you how many of some body weight only exercise to do each day and it gets more difficult as it goes. I did abs one month, squats the next, now i do more that combine lots of different things each day. But it was easy because i just saved the image onto my phone and could work on them anywhere. They didnt take much time and got me in the routine of doing something with rest days marked inbetween. Once i got in the routine i was able to do more and more often0

Try a morning walk! I also come home pretty exhausted from the day and it is a struggle to find the motivation to do anything. Working out in the morning has been the only way to be consistent for me.
Pilates and Yoga would be great exercise-plans to help you start to build some strength. There are tons of beginner DVDs out there or you can even find a class! Don't get discouraged if some of the exercises are really hard or even impossible at the start... you WILL improve and it'll amaze you what your body becomes capable of.

You need to make it a habit, whether its in the morning, at lunch or after work. My routine is to come home from working all day, let the dog out, change into workout gear, let the dog back in, workout for an hour, feed dog, stretch, take dog for quick walk, shower, eat, collapse. Repeat. There are days when I am completely exhausted, but do not let it stop me. My workout may start off slow, but once I get in it, my energy improves.
Once I went into work in the afternoon due to having some repair work done at home, I was able to workout early so when I came home from work at my normal time, I had no idea what to do with myself. True story.0 -
I agree with everyone suggesting trying for a morning workout routine. I've had to change my bedtime so that I could get up and workout before I got to class or to work. Like you, I'm exhausted by the end of the day and have zero desire to workout. If time is an issue, start by slowly making yourself go to bed early. 15 minutes earlier the first night, 30 minutes earlier the next, etc., until you're waking up with enough time to do your workout before you leave for work. As for what to do exercise-wise, if you're morbidly obese I highly suggest starting out with something low impact like walking around your neighborhood or at a near by park. You could even do it at the indoor gym track if it's too hot or you have outdoor seasonal allergies.0

Everyone is tired from work. We are ALL tired. I work 3 jobs. Tired is just a state of being- I'm good but tired is pretty much my standard answer to everything.
Find a way to keep yourself form just collapsing at home- do it in the morning- at lunch- or pack your stuff - change at work and go walk at a local park (i do this- leave a little later- so I can change then go running along the canal trail.

I took a whole week off for resting purposes- I did some running- but no lifting- I had such a stupid amount of free time I was kind of lost- my house was wreck- I was so unorganized and thoughtless- my grove was all messed up!!!0 -
When I started, I would change AT WORK and go straight to the gym. If I went home, I would just sit on the couch!0

Walk at Home..........these are indoor "walks." These are great when it's too hot, it's too dark....whatever. Simple, low impact, and very little space is required.
