I would say try to cut back on the sugar, if not for your weight, for your general health. As far as cholesterol goes, the cholesterol you intake actually has very little to do with your bodes cholesterol levels. There are also good and bad levels of cholesterol. Don't worry so much. Definitely try to cut down a little on sugar, cause its just not great for you (if its processed/refined, that is).

Do you have specific reasons that you're avoiding sugar? If not, don't worry about it (just brush your teeth). The default MFP macros are nothing special and may well be entirely off-base when it comes to your goals. For that matter, it's fine to tweak them to suit your own preferences/plan. If you like a bit more sugar, up the sugar macro - just make sure your calories are set correctly and don't let your carb macro go so high that it interferes with your fat and protein intake.

The numbers are general guidelines, a starting place. You should base yours on your dietary situation. I changed my sodium and sugar to calcium and fiber because I am more concerned about the latter two options.

Splenda won't count as part of your sugar intake, or change your macros (unless you're eating ridiculous amounts of it). :)

I swapped sugar out for fiber in my diary a long time ago. I find it more useful to track, personally. I also watch my protein (I have a hard time reaching my protein goals) and let fat and carbs fall where they will. How closely you track your macros and other nutrients will really depend on your personal routine and goals.
