To make:
1. Caramelized onions
2. Fried tofu? ( like asian restaurant, just not too much oil-- don't want to increase the fat and cals too much)
Its three o'clock here in California and I've got two issues---
I'm hungry as hell after Im done working out for an hour then I have two hunting dogs that get a 3-4 mile walk after.
I'm vegetarian and NEED the protein (working on this) I finished off my vegetarian stuffed peppers leftovers today (my diary appears to be a day ahead but even tho it says Thur that is today).
So I have to cook tonite and want to make sauteed vegetables and tofu on a little baguette sandwich. Just haven't had much luck making tofu not mushy but nice and firm cooked. I want caramelized onions too. I have firm tofu in the fridge and white onions. Help?

For the tofu I would recommend doing a baked version with oil sprayed over it and seasoned. Make sure that you use firm or extra firm tofu and squeeze all the water out so that you prevent it from turning mushy!

By a strange coincidence(I didn't see this post beforehand) I made the baked tofu using the above instructions for my dinner tonight. I actually used a store bought hoi sin sauce as the marinade but used the same cooking method. It turned out very crispy and was a lovely addition to my stir fried veg!0 -
Just bumping so this goes under My Topics. I'm a rugged meat-eater, but dang I've had a hankerin' for some fried tofu, or at least a try at broadening my protein horizon. Thanks, my veggie-friends! I plan on giving some of this tips and recipes a try. They sound delicious!0
