I usually weigh my food before I cook it. Some of the food on here will specify like rice, pasta, etc. Vegetables and chicken usually don't matter.

Definitely before you cook it. Something I need to start doing myself!

i usually weigh everything before. I really don't know which is better, but it works for me :)

The higher the item's calorie count the better off you are weighing before.

Pasta noodles and rice? Definitely weigh and log it dry, before cooking.

Broccoli and cauliflower? Not such a big deal, weight it or measure it after cooking. A bit off won't kill your count...

can anyone suggest a good food scale? I need to start weighing my food instead of just eyeballing it.

Before is best to get a reasonable estimation for a lot of meats. Veggies I would think either but I weigh all my stuff before / or as I serve it, great to tare the scale with the bowl on it and just start adding my yogurt or oatmeal etc for an accurate count of what I'm having

It's what the restaurants do...Why you'll see the little * on fast food menu's by their burgers, * net weight before cooking!
