HELP! with Indian Food

I hate it. I have given it many chances, but I just do not like turmeric, fenugreek, or overt cumin flavor.
Why am I posting? My uber vegan pals are visiting from out of town and are insisting on Indian food. Any suggestions? I'll probably have 800 calories left, so that isn't really a concern. I just don't want to be grossed out. Here is the link for the restaurant they have chosen, if this helps!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I've seen that restaurant.
I actually like the one in Turkey Creek better.
The Thalis Dinners are always a good option because you can try several things and see what you like.
Tandoori chicken is a like a cross between roasted and grilled chicken on the bone and is very good. Flavorfull but not too "weird".
Also, Chicken Tikka Masala is a tomato-y based sauce with light curry flavor. Get it mild. If you like tomato based sauces.
Vegetable Korma mild is usually mixed veggies with a curry cream sauce. It has a lot of flavor but isn't too "weird".
Naan is YUMMY!!! If you like flat breads at all you will like it.
IF you have calories for dessert try galub juman. They taste like pancake balls!0 -
Chicken Butter Chicken Masala (or Paneer masala; sort of a firm tofu like substance but a million times tastier) is my favorite. I love Indian food, but ugh, I really don't like cumin. But masala has a really mild spice going on (at least where I get Indian) and is creamy and tomato-y, and heaven on earth. Now, it is fattening, but very filling. I skip rice with it so I can eat more of the main dish. Plain tikka chicken or lamb--sort of roasted, grilled, smoky flavor--is really good too and less calories.0

Thank you guys so much! I subject my husband to all sorts of spicy Hispanic dishes, so I guess its my turn0

I am Asian and we eat those kinds of foods anyway but in restaurants that is no where how real indian/pak food is like. It is restaurant style rubbish and people think they are eating Indian when really authentic Asian food tastes so different
I hope you find something nice to eat on your outing with friends0 -
Oh man, I LOVE Indian food and I put cumin in EVERYTHING even if it's not Indian....
But, if you're not a fan of cumin or of curries in general, I recommend tandoori chicken. It's just... chicken. It'll look red, but it'll taste pretty "normal". Also, naan, which is very high in calories but is super delicious and no cumin.0 -

i believe paneer is cheese.
i was going to suggest palak paneer with some lovely naan.
butter chicken is also amazing!

OMG... I love Indian food. I actually just got back from competing in a month-long car rally across India.
Try anything with the word 'Manchurian' at the end. (Gobi, Veg, or Chicken) This style of Indian food comes from the northeast and is heavily influenced by Asian flavors. It'll taste more like Chinese food than Indian food0 -
I love Korma over any other Indian entree, and kheer is in my top five favorite desserts. And I'm also a huge naan fan, with special love for plain, garlic, and coconut.0

Dosas - like a crunchy crepe. Many varieties, like egg, lentil, etc.0
