Hi everyone! My name is Sarah, I live in Virginia and I am metabolically challenged as I like to tell my friends. What I really am is overweight and wanting to get myself back into a healthy mindset and have a healthy body. I am 36 years old with two children, ages 8 and 4 and want to do what I can to lose my extra weight and be around for my kids for a long time. The short part of the story is that I want to be healthy and be able to participate and do things that I have felt like my weight was hindering me from doing. I have always been tall, 5'11" but I never weighed over 200 lbs. I did not gain weight much with my 1st pregnancy, but after my daughter was born and at the age of 18 months we found out that she was diagnosed with a mild case of cerebral palsy. I went into a slight depression then but it was never recognized. I slowly began to gain weight and with the birth of my second child I gained an extra 40 lbs. Over the last 4 years I have slowly added on roughly another 25 lbs. I suffered from undiagnosed post partum depression with my second child and was finally put on medication for depression when he was 1 year old. Between the meds and just not feeling good about myself I just did not have any motivation. I have finally decided though that I am tired of being overweight, I am tired of dreading going shopping because nothing will look good for me, I am tired of having joint pain, and I want to do something that many don't believe I can do...and that is lose weight. So I am hoping to learn and read and be inspired from others who use this sight and I wish you all the very best in your efforts to lose weight. I myself know it can be a struggle.

Hi sarah. Congratulations on looking for help. My story is much like your.....minus the cerebral palsy. My depression was brought on by bouts of stress and a lot of losses in my life. Now I suffer from hypothyroidism. Which can be caused by excess stress. :-( I'm just finely getting it under control and able to start seeing loss instead of gaining weight. If you'd like to be buddies for encouraging chats and etc ill add you0
