Partying & Dieting... Ouff

I am 21 years old and as I am sure many other young adults out there trying to lose weight, I struggle when I go out partying with my friends. I mean of course there is some cardio involved in dancing but on a serious note. Partying and Dieting are really really hard to combine. I have found a few low calorie drinks that I enjoy but I still struggle when I go out with my friends to a bar or club. What to order for drinks? how to resist the temptation of the huge plate of nachos in the middle of the table, the drunken stop at mcdo with everyone on the way home and trying to calculate exactly how many drinks I had. I mean I am young and of course I am not going to refrain from going out and enjoying myself with my friends but does anyone else feel this way? or have any tips on how they do it?
Here are my typical tactics.
1) PreDrink: Vodka and Flavored Setlzer Water, Vodka Tonics at the bar or light beer. (another fav is vodka and 10 calorie lemonade):drinker:
2) When the Nachos& Junk Food Hit the table, I hit the dancefloor. I usually manage to find atleast one partner in crime to join me.
3) When we stop at mcdo, I volunteer to go get us a table.

I used to do a lot of coke when I went out drinking, so that helped the hunger problem:laugh:
I would recommend one or the other: partying or losing weight. I chose to lose weight, cut off drinking for 4 months then starting drinking again once I got to the weight I wanted to maintain. Problem solved.1 -
I used to drink a lot. High tolerance. I decided to stop until I get to my weight goal and it is awesome going out sober.1

I also dont mind being the designated driver on nights out. Which I usually volunteer to do. But I also like to get a buzz going before I pull out my big dance moves. On the nights I am not Designated Driver of course lol0

Watch the tonic, it has a ton of calories.
Otherwise, I don't have a lot of advice. I'm not as young as you (I could actually be your mom), but I still like to go out for drinks and food, and often overdo it. I'm not trying to lose weight, but I can maintain 128 lbs going out 2x a week or so by eating at a deficit on most days. For me, that's 1700-1900 calories M-Th. Friday and Saturday tend to come in at 2400-3000. Sunday is usually neutral.1 -
How much do you drink?
Go with Vodka/water, maybe with a little lime1 -
I lost 80lbs in college doing the same stuff. I even regularly indulged in 2am Taco Bell (WAY better than McD's at hangover prevention  ). Just work it in. Cut a little somewhere else, estimate to the best of your abilities, try not to go overboard with the drinks and snacks (sounds like you're doing a good job). And BE SAFE.1

Usually I can work it in because ever since i started dieting I am a super light weight. I usually try to keep it to my vodka and 10cal lemonade which is a 80-90cal drink. I usually have 2-3 and I am good to go lol I just try to stay away from the mixes at the bar, the cranberry cocktail, the coke and especially blended drinks.0

I know this may not be the response you are looking for...but a lot of my friends know I'm trying to lose weight therefore if I do go out I try not to drink or maybe I'll take 2 shots (more if they are free). My friends don't pressure me because they don't want to hear the lecture that drinks are "empty calories"...which they are. Especially mixed drinks. If you want to drink and get buzzed...cut out the frilliness of mixed drinks and get straight to the point with shots.. The juice used to mixed drinks with have the majority of the calories. If you do get a mixed drink, ask for anything diet like rum and DIET coke (for me, SoCo and diet coke...yum). But remember the issue with diet drinks are the high levels of sugar. AVOID BEER cuz you get the least amount of buzz for your buck/calorie. There are entire nights were I just don't drink. I'll hold a cup of water in my hand because as you know everyone dances better when waving a cup over their head
If I know I'm going out (not even to drink but to a restaurant or something), I make sure I get enough fruit and veggies during the day but low on my calories so I can snack on something like nachos and not feel AS guilty.0 -
When I'm at uni I go out drinking twice a week usually. I always try hit the gym and get a good burn that day, and also try eat a little less. Not drastically, just a lighter dinner. Then I always stick to vodka diet coke. Usually about 5 or 6 will get me to the level of drunkeness I like to be, which only equals about 400-500 calories. Combined with the fact I dance like a nutter and walk home in high heels I usually find it doesn't hinder my progress too much, the hardest part is resisting the food on the way home! That being said, I am definitely noticing the scales are shifting that little bit easier since I've come home and am not going out drinking as much.1
