K, so I hit a plateau for like 2 months. Then I stepped on the Wii balance board and it said I was 165 so that meant a 4lb loss... then I did something stupid... I bought a scale so I could track my weight loss a little better... well, it says I am actualy 6lbs heavier than the balance board did. All this up, down, staying still is driving me a little mental... I won't lie... Here I am exercising & counting EVERY morsel of food that goes in my mouth and my friend is on that HCG diet and has lost 50 some odd lbs since the beginning of October!!! Don't get me wrong, I am happy for her that she can lose the weight that she has tried to get rid of for so long and I am happy for all the people here on MFP that have lost weight and the ones that are losing weight but I just don't get it!! WHY AM I NOT LOSING WEIGHT??? Or is it that I am just too wrapped up in it and 10-12lbs in 8 weeks is actually good and what most people lose when they are 30lbs from goal?? I think I am going to stay on MFP cause i really love the support and the friends that I have made but I think I am going to take a break from logging everything for the next week or two and see what happens. What do you think?

Um, I had a few weeks I didn't lose anything. The wii fit is only accurate on solid surfaces, so if you're on carpet it lies. A lot. And the scale is the same thing. Flat even surface. My question to you is this, how do you feel? How do your clothes fit? I realized those couple of weeks I wasn't losing on the scale I was feeling better & my clothes were smaller. It was muscle gain and it was masquerading as no loss. Dannie I know you're frustrated a lot right now, but the best thing to do is to keep up the same pace and quit stepping on the scale for a bit. You are stressing too much over it & I think that is where you will see the most trouble. If I start to stress too much instant stopper on loss. I'm going to comment privately to you about diet tweaks that have helped me here & there. I'm a sugar addict, that kills me! :flowerforyou:

you have done awesome! I'm sure it is frustrating for you. If you don't think it will backfire on you and will actually reduce your stress try taking a break from entering but from what I understand (NOT PERSONAL EXP as I am just getting started) that can be detrimental! To me it sounds like you may be on track for where you are...you won't loose the weight like you did when you had more to loose. Keep up the great work. You have come so far you will make your goal!

What you've describes sounds completely natural. Your body is recalibrating. You're very close to goal and still seeing a loss.

You should go with the same scale weights - changing scales (or even moving the same scale) will give you results that are unreliable. What about everything else? How are your measurements? Are you clothes fitting better? Are you feeling more fit? Sometimes the "win" isn't on the scale.

You also might consider shaking up your exercise routine. The body gets used to the same thing every day, so even a rigorous 70 minutes cycling class will stop showing results if you're doing the same routine day after day.

Your friend is seeing amazing results, but it's impossible to know everything about the why. Perhaps she has significantly more to lose. Maybe she's severely restricting her diet and missing out on the healthy way to lose. I can't begin to think of all the possible reasons.

Be gentle with yourself. What would you tell your best friend if she was feeling the way you are? Most likely it would be encouraging. Look at how far you've come. Look at the non-scale wins. I'd also suggest not stopping what sounds like it has been working so far for you, which is logging your calories and exercise.

Best of luck to you. This process is slow. It's painful. I've been at it for 6 years, and I've lost over 250 lbs. I've gained back 40 of those and am now in the midst of losing them. Again. But it's slow. I'm looking to lose a pound a week, so sometime later this year, I might be at goal. We all plateau, but keep up the diligent work. And stay connected to your friends here for support.

    D.

10-12 pounds in 8 weeks is healthy weight loss so don't despair. The closer you get to your goal, the slower it seems but you can do it. I would continue logging. It works.

Yeah, the Wii fit is fun, and I'm sure has some good programs or whatever, but is SO not an accurate measure of...well, anything. My readings on it vary by like 5 lbs in like a 2 min interval (ie, get on, weigh, get off, get right back on, weigh again, 5lb difference)

You are going through EXACTLY the same thing as me. It IS discouraging. I thought it would go so much faster. I decided to nix the scales for awhile... forget about thr weighing or measuring for 6 weeks, work out hard and eat the right stuff and it's working. The more pressure you out on yourself the harder it is. You have to remember that ideally you want a lifestyle plan, not something that'll get rid of the weight so you can go back to eating anything. I maintain that the odd slip up I have is normal. I like eating healthy but I also want to have the odd treat. Keep it up, don't get discouraged. Make sure you drink a mountain of water and that you eat enough cal's. Make sure you mix the food and the workouts up... Keep smiling. This is health we're talking about, the most important thing.

You're doing an amazing job!!! Don't leave MFP!!! That said, taking a break from logging every single thing you put in your mouth isn't a bad thing - there comes a point where it can feel a little neurotic and obsessive... I get the same way. Every week, month, year is going to be different, so if you're not seeing exactly the results you want or expect, don't get down on yourself.

(I've heard, too, that if you reach a plateau, it sometimes helps to take a little break from the workout regime.)

LOL my Wii has never even been close to my real weight! It is always 25-60 pounds off...even within 2 minutes. It is on hardwood floors too! Wii is fun to use, but don't rely on it to be an accurate scale.

it can be so painful when it seems like all your hard work is taken away from you, but it's not. like the other person said, focus on inches and clothing fit, and keep logging and working out. It will pay off in the end. if your scale says you weigh 6 pounds more than you thought, so too did you weigh that at the beginning and your accomplishment is not lessened, in the end you will have lost even more weigh that you thought you had or maybe even than you thought possible. I can't wait to know your results later this year!
