Workout Music

Options
I'm wondering if anyone has good suggestions for workout music- I've been running for years and am at a loss for new songs with a quick beat, I can't keep pace with slow music, no matter how good it is. I'm flexible on the genre but prefer not to listen to country

I have a similar question...I have looked at running message boards and haven't found any good playlists. The genre I like is stuff you would hear out dancing at a really good nightclub. I'm not talking about anything you'd hear on the radio or anything remixed you would hear on the radio. I guess it would be like techno or trance...I'm not a music buff or anything but love music by Armin Van Buren (sp?) or Paul Van *kitten*...does anyone have a good playlist along those lines???

If you have an MP3/WMA music collection already you could try this free software created for DJ's. It basically measures all the music in your collection and provides you with the Beats-Per-Minute (BPM) for all your songs. From there, you can choose the songs that match your activity level (ie, 110 for walking, 130 for jogging, etc) and create playlists for your workouts. Here's a link to the software:

    http://www.mixmeister.com/bpmanalyzer/bpmanalyzer.asp

Also, there are plenty of sites that will sell you pre-canned workout CD's or subscription services to do the same with your own MP3 collection. Google Workout Music or Workout Playlists for suggestions.

Note, I have not personally tested this software (yet) but it's from a company that develops professional DJ software so I expect it will be pretty good (and it is free). Hope this is useful......Mike

I'm really not a fan of techno either, I'd prefer something in the hip hop or rock 'n roll arenas. Any suggestions there?

I also enjoy running...A LOT!! On itunes i search for any hot song with one simple word after it...REMIX/CLUB MIX!! Or even search "workout music" sometimes those playlists are more money but hey! This guy at my work sent me some music to sample it is a group called "Girl Talk" he is a mixer. He puts songs together that you would never think are good. They are songs everyone knows but with a totally different sound to them!!

Let me know how it goes!

I've heard awesome things about Girl Talk (it's one guy, a dj). thanks for that suggestion, too!

I have a lot of good music but I run a lot and some of them are really long runs so I just get tired of hearing the same things all the time. Especially when I know I've moving slowly because I should be a at a certain place by a certain song...
