Hi all, I really want to increase my protein...going to start having eggs or Greek yoghurt for breakfast and try and have chicken/prawn/fish salad for lunch. My husband plans all meals for the week for our family so just go with it - usually healthy and all home made - the meals need to work for the whole family so can't really dictate that one...but ideas to get protein up at breakfast/lunch and snacks - thanks all!! X

I love fresh fruit with greek yogurt and granola for a snack, it's my favorite. I also snack on cheese, almonds, PB on rice cakes, and I drink an iced latte most afternoons or evenings. Don't be afraid to try new things, hummus is good with fresh veggies or pretzels, crackers and so on.

I don't know if I could face ham at breakfast but should give it a try...I forget about hummus, good call as I do love it. Almonds a great one, I have these already...need to lower my fat intake a but though mainly good fats...

the problem I find with stuff like that is it increases carbs more than protein

Easy high protein meals lunches can include ham or turkey with cheese on a low carb wrap, salads with grilled chicken and cheese, homemade chef's salads with ham, turkey, cheese, and egg, cottage cheese with fruit. Great portable high protein snacks include cheese sticks, nuts, turkey pepperoni, pork rinds.

All such great ideas thank you. I would feel a bit foolish drinking the protein powders as my only exercise is zumba and walking - feel like I need to be weight lifting to justify drinking it!! ;)

Not true, it's a food source that's how you have to see it. You deplete your body one way or another, then you replenish it with clean protein. In my food diary, I consider my post-workout shake my second meal of the day.. even on cardio days.

Not at all. Just keep it within your calories and it's a great boost for protein.

It's a meal like any other, just in liquid form. Feel free to look at my diary if you want an idea how to get started with shakes. ;)

Thank you x I think I am a bit put off as I have 2 young children and we always have our meals together and I don't think I want them seeing me have a shake whilst they have 'real food' though I totally understand why you guys have it...perhaps a compromise to add it to oats in the morning sometimes?

Of course, you can add it to whatever you like. I put a scoop in my fibre 1 and almond milk this morning. It's a food source so mix it in whatever you think it would be good in, like oatmeal and different cereals.

Awesome, going to get some for sure...I've been dieting since I was a kid but feel like I've seen the light the last few months and doing it for my health, not necessarily just to drop the lbs...want to be around a long time to see my children grow up ;) thanks for the suggestions all. X

Protein powder is a great way to get extra protein I some times have it 2 times in a day just depends , I always have it every morning after my workout and if I am still under awhile before bed I will have one. Also try and do full fat cottage cheese or ricotta cheese . Stay away from Low or non fat products they are full of added sugars and junk to make them taste good

Funny you say that, I added some cottage cheese to our online shop earlier and couldn't believe all the added stuff in the low fat version - went with the full fat. Crazy isn't it as you automatically think low fat is better.

Yes it's funny how many of us think because it says LOW fat that it's good for us NOT.

I love Quest bars to get some more protein. They're delicious. Sometimes I also snack on hard boiled eggs throughout the day.
