Has anyone tried this? I saw the ad on this website, and clicked on it. Looks like an advanced heart rate monitor, but I was just wondering if anyone tried it. The site from the ad is:

Any thoughts?

I've been using one for over a year - I love it. It's NOT a HRM - it estimates your calories burned based off of various other body readings (steps, movement, skin temperature, galvanic skin response (how your skin conducts electricity) and heat flux (the heat produced by your body that's moving into the environment)).
I wear mine about 23 hours a day - it's very comfy and you don't even notice after the first week or so. It doesn't bother me while sleeping, either. I love the sleep analysis function - I can see how many hours of sleep I'm really getting.
I haven't tried the new bluetooth model that syncs wirelessly with your smartphone, so i can't comment on how well that works. The regular version that you upload with a usb cord works just fine. They've made big improvements in the program to do the uploading over the last year or so.
Website subscription is required - that's how you view your data from your device. This bothers some people, but I think it's worth paying the price of a few starbucks drinks or a cheap lunch out at a restaurant a month. (I pay 6.99/mo with the 12 month subscription)
If you do decide to buy it - shop around. It's carried at many places these days - I've heard costco has good prices, and I've seen it at Sports Authority and I bought mine off Amazon.com.0 -
I bought a bodybugg last year which is similar and I really didn't find it helpful. I was very self conscious about wearing it. I got asked what it was so much and I didn't like that. It kind of made me obsessive in that I was constantly checking to see how many calories I had burned so I would know what I could eat and how much more I needed to burn.
I ended up getting rid of it and getting a heart rate monitor and I like it much better. I didn't lose weight while I was depending on the bodybugg. I just didn't care for.
It does calculate the number of calories you burn during the day but I think you may be just as well off using the numbers that myfitnespal gives you and then adding in those burned during your workout.
Of course, I'm sure there are lots and lots of people that have had great success using the body media fit and the bodybugg. For me it wasn't worth the cost.0 -
Thanks! I really appreciate the insight! Maybe it'll be a birthday present to myself0
