How much water should I be drinking? The standard is 64oz per day, but I also read somewhere that you should drink 1oz for every pound of your weight? Which is accurate?

a minimum of eight 8 oz glasses is enough to cleanse your body of toxins.0

My sister in law is studying nutritional science and she has heard that you should drink half your boday weight in oz. if that is more than 8 glasses.0

Half your body weight in ounces (if you weigh 200, drink 100 oz)0

10 glasses a day works for me...any less and I retain water as my diet is still too high in sodium.0

That's interesting, my fitness trainer says it's all a myth. 8 oz of water won't do any more damage than drinking 4 or 100 oz. As long as when you go to the bathroom, if you're urine is semi-clear to clear you have enough water in your system.0

There are many different methods for calculating daily fluid requirements. However, a simple equation to help adults figure their fluid needs is that for every pound of body weight, you need about half an ounce of fluid intake per day. For instance, if you weigh 140 lbs., simply multiply 140 by .5 to estimate your daily fluid needs in ounces, then divide by eight to estimate your fluid needs in cups per day, rounding up to the nearest full cup. [example: 140 x .5 = 70 ounces; 70 ounces divided by 8 = 9 cups of fluid per day]
0.5 ounces x Body Weight in Pounds = Daily Fluid Requirement in ounces
