Goal weight but still feel fat ?

Hi everyone,
So I've reached what I thought was my goal weight but still feel the same. Basically since jan I've lost a stone slowly and through diet and exercise. I did weigh 10st 8lb and I'm 5'6 I'm now 9st 7lb I've dropped a dress size and do feel a lot better but my stomach and hips still look and feel wobbly. It's ok until I sit down ???? I have had a baby so maybe that's just that ?
I'm currently eating around 1300 calories a day and going to the gym 3 times a week doing around 30mins cardio and 30 mins strength also swimming once a week. I also lead a fairly active lifestyle I'm not overly sedentary. It does go a bit downhill at weekends where I'll have a couple drinks but I'm not having massive binges I'll prob have between 1600-1900 on weekends and try to get a run in or whatever.
Anyway, I've been maintaining doing this for around 6 weeks. To lose a bit more ( I'm thinking another half a stone ) and tone the rest up would you suggest upping calories ? Upping cardio / strength ? Or decreasing calories more ? I'm not after a quick fix no holiday to get slim for just wanna be making sure I'm heading in the right direction.
TIA x

Congratulations on reaching your goal weight!
On the forums in the success thread there are pictures and stories of people who were at goal weight, but didn't look how they thought they would. From what I see of their stories, the way to get the look is by lifting weights. It is what I plan to do when I get nearer my goal.0 -
Everybody has their skin fold when they sit down.
Strength training is great, keep that up. Maybe increase calorie and protein a bit to match your activities more.

Thank you! Will take a look!
I'm lifting weights currently but not sure if I'm lifting enough or. Doing the correct exercises I'm mainly working arms if I'm honest x0 -
Try adding some compound lifts like these: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=118920551
You work your whole body with them, more efficient workout.0 -
The programme I intend to follow is stronglifts 5x5. There are YouTube videos of the guy doing the exercises, talking through proper form etc as well as an app for my phone to track progress. (I like to mentally prepare in advance
). I often see members recommended a book called new rules of lifting for women as being a good starting point. Can't recommended it myself as I haven't looked into it.
Hope that helps.0 -
Just what I was about to say! Compound movements are great because you work several groups of muscles at once. Try different burpees adding weights, squats...pistols squats are good too, plus they are a pretty hard workout! Congrats on your weight loss!0

Thank you will look at those too ????0

I would recommend looking into some weight training programs...I find them more effective for begginners like me as these programs are more organized and take the thinking out of the equation.
If you go to gym, Livefit is a popular one. if you do at home, chalean extreme has been my first choice. I have moved on to body beast now but still love Chalene's perky personality. her workout is pretty short, like 35 minutes per session.0 -

I would suggest upping calories more and adding more protein and strength training to your diet. Cut back on the fats and carbs.0 -
Your goal weight is a healthy weight. The way you went about it seems reasonable without excess hardship on the body.
But still feeling "flabby"... this is probably due to lacking in the muscle department. So as others above have mentioned, look into a caloric surplus and go for weight training. Strong lifts 5x5 and New Rules of Lifting for Women are to popular routines.0 -
Lots of people get to goal weight and stil have a higher body fat % than they like. Usually because they just dieted and did cardio which just results in a smaller version of themselves.
Hit the weights. Change your body composition by muscling up a bit.

Thank you all you've been really helpful. Will try all of those. Measured my body fat at boots ( not sure how accurate it is ) but it's gone down from 25% to 18% but like I said not sure how accurate it is.
Thanks again all x0 -
