What weight should a weighted hoop be any hopers out there?

I bought a weighted hoop from a Hula Hooping site but it is no heavier than the cheapo one I bought off eBay; think I may have bought a crock!

They are both 1.5lb

edit: sp. hoopers not hopers!

2 to 4 pounds is a good weight for a beginner - this is for on-body hooping. You also want it to be the correct size - when the hoop is standing on its side, the top should fall between your belly button and chest. When you are ready to start learning trick such as neck and shoulder hooping - a larger diameter, lighter hoop is best. They move slower so it is easier to learn the tricks. Check your area for hoopers who offer classes and make/sell hula hoops. It is nice to be able to try out a hoop before you buy it. Wal-Mart does sell a nice weighted hoop that breaks down into sections for travel. I have been hooping for 3 years and I have 7 hoops for a variety of things, including a set of mini-hoops for doing arm hooping. Good luck - I find hooping to be a great exercise and a wonder relaxing was to center myself.
