Hello everybody.
Before I ask my question I better tell you the situation. I haven't been on here for awhile. So please disregard anything posted on my profile.
So about two months ago. I weigh 250. The biggest i have ever weighed. So i started eating healthy and exercising. I started seeing the weight just fall off. And I give my self one cheat day every week.
And I do weekly check ins on my weight.
So this past Saturday was my cheat day. I bought some pizza and went to town for dinner and lunch I had a subway. All was good.
So of course we had left overs. So in the morning I ate some more. And for lunch I went to Buffalo wild wings and watched the game and ate a burger and fries. And for dinner. . Yea you don't want to know lol.
So to end a long story short. I went over board. My weight on Saturday morning was 220. I hit my 30 pounds lost. I checked my weight again. Today it was 225. After breakfast it was 230. And of course I checked it a couple of times to see. And it always showed 230.
Is it possible to gain 10 pounds.? I do feel a little bit constipated. I do have bowel movements every hour or so. So it seems like my body is trying to take it out. But not fast enough. Is it because of all the sodium intake?

There is no way that you gained 10 lbs of legit body fat in 2 days (that would be 35,000 calories over your maintenance). A bunch of that is going to be water retention from the increase in salt and carbs over the weekend. Get back to business as usual and it'll come back off.

Thank you. I really felt like I messed up. And felt really disappointed in myself. I learned my lesson for sure.0

^Exactly this. Sodium, salt, carbs can all cause water retention in the body and it is possible to retain 10 pounds of water after a big cheat day.0 -
I did that last week. I purposely waited an extra 3 days to weigh myself so that the gain only looked like 0.4 lbs. It helped my mentality. Try not to weigh yourself on any day except in the morning on your cheat days (after going to the washroom and before eating). That way you have a week for your system to process the extra calories and different substances.0

Don't feel too disappointed in yourself. Cheat days are an okay thing, and just try not to go too overboard.
Maybe in the future, try not weighing yourself the day after your cheat day. From the increase in carbs and salt you are going to retain a lot more water, and see a huge increase in water weight. Having one reasonable cheat day a week is not going to make you gain weight (as long as you are still at a deficit for the week), but it WILL allow you to retain a bit more water and see an increase on the scale for one or two days after.
Good luck, and great job on already being down 30 pounds!0 -
I agree with the above posters. water.
i would also encourage you to not weigh yourself more than once a week. i think its easy to get caught up in the little fluctuations, and seriously, those happen constantly.
this is all part of the journey.
do you log your food on your cheat days? it may help just to see the calorie breakdown, maybe you think, well, these 2 slices of pizza are worth it, but i will pass on the third...just an idea. even if you log it afterwards, i know it helps me to see what i consumed, and then i will think twice about what i eat next time. sometimes its just horrifying. sometimes just eating a smaller portion of what you want will make you feel better.
another habit that has helped me, (if you can get yourself to eat slow enough)...stop periodically and see how full you are. maybe you are eating past the point where you are full (which i find so easy to do). sometimes i will stop and wait 10-15 minutes, and see if i feel full. if i do, i save whatever is left. if not, i can have a little more.0 -
That's one of my downfalls I am a fast Eater. Lol something I need to work on.
The scale is a huge downer on anybody mentality state lol. This weekend I'm going to pass on the cheat day. And I'm still following my deficit and my exercises. I was just overwhelmed when I saw the scale.
Also one more question which is better a dial scale or a digital scale?0
