Feel like I am on a sinking boat alone :(

I am very excited about this site mainly for the public support. I have always walked this weight loss journey alone and I am scared to death to do it with others! I feel like I am on a sinking boat alone and hope that is changing now. This is beginning to feel like the rescue vessel is in site. I have over 100 pounds to lose and I am determined to take it one pound at a time,

Welcome :flowerforyou: You can do it!0

Your words hit home with me. I, like yourself have walked this road alone. I am loving this site and the ease of tracking calories and exercise. It gives the positive reinforcement I have always been looking for.0

It can be done! I've lost a total of 254 lbs over 3 years. It has not been easy and the last 30 lbs have really been a challenge but after making the committment to a lifestyle change and sticking with it (not perfect though, still make poor choices occassionally & I've learned to live with it) I'm at the point where if I don't lose the last 7, I'm not going to worry about it because I'm still 1000 times better off than I was before.
My mantra has been: IS THE CHOICE I'M MAKING RIGHT NOW MOVING ME CLOSER TO OR FURTHER FROM MY GOAL?
If you can say that the choice is moving you closer most of the time, you'll do okay.
Good luck!!1 -
You've taken the first step. This site is awesome. I have found so much support here.0
-
I'm so proud of you. Yeehaw girl! We're gonna do it... one pound at a time.0

This is really the perfect place to be for 24/7 weight loss support. So much better than weight watchers or other programs in my opinion!!
I recommend using this site to the full. Look at open diaries for food ideas, read success stories to motivate yourself, take a look at the recipes that are posted - it really is an amazing place to be for weight loss!!0 -
Keep it up at least you are trying now, that is better than before. Somebody said "when we know better, we do better". Don't blame yourself, just be in the now moment and enjoy this journey as best you can. You got this!0

Take baby steps. I felt the same way June 15th. I have accomplished alot but I started small. You can do it just keep fighting!0

Wowsers, that's so impressive! Talk about some major motivation. You too, Polo571!
You're definitely not alone, and this is by far one of the best places to be if you're trying to lose. You're not on a sinking boat, but starting a new journey! The ride might be a little rocky at times, but that's when you'll come on here and things will level out for you. Don't be afraid of getting support from people that are strangers; we may not know you, but that can be a benefit because no one will be judging you and all of us have started in the same place that you have. Best of wishes, hon.0 -
Your not alone but I know how it feels. My downfall is that when I slip I want to be alone. It's like if no one knows I didn't get my butt on the treadmill today than it's o.k. I'm really trying to learn to be accountable to myself for my food intake and my exercise. I really think that once I can conquer that mental part I'll get off this platuae and start losing again.0

I'm new to this, looking to lose 35lbs, like you I dont know how it will go but I will try. Stick in there :-)0

You're not alone. That's the most important thing.0

Here you are not alone. You can always come and find info, support, motivation and with tracking you will remain focused. I hope you log on daily. Best of luck and feel free to add me as a freind.0

Hi! When I read your title It reminded me of myself! I am just starting today and I put my goal at losing 90 pounds. Because If I saY OVER 100 i WANT TO CRY! You are not alone and it's nice to know neither am I..This seems to be a great way to be accountable for what we eat and if we move or not. I have been soooo lazy and eat horribly and i smoke it's hard to quit but I will, but right now I want to focus on my weight. I don't even look like myself. This is the most I ever weighed and now my face has changed drastically in the past few months! So I am glad I'm here and i'm glad you're here. We CAN and will do this0

My goal is also to lose 101 lbs :] believe me, you are not alone. 58 million people in America are overweight and 3 million people are morbidly obese. Even worse, 25% of Americans live a sedentary lifestyle.
I'm 19 now, and I've been at least 20 lbs overweight since I was 10. I am so tired of being fat. I started on this site on Monday at 236 lbs and a size 20. I know it's going to take me at least a year to lose the weight that's making me so unhealthy, but I'm in it for the long haul. I want to be able to wear a bikini because I've never worn one. So far I've lost 5 lbs (probably from having having all of that junk food flushed from my system.
Some tips I've learned in the past 3 days:
- To lose a pound of fat, you have to burn 3500 calories. That may seem daunting, but remember that every single activity you do burns calories (I'm burning calories right now by typing).
- Figure out your BMR (basal metabolic rate). Just google it and you should find an automatic calculator somewhere. This is basically the number of calories your body would burn in a day even if you laid in bed all day. I enter my bmr (1898 calories) as an exercise everyday because my goal is to burn 1000 more calories than I eat in a day. (So, if I eat 1200 calories, burn 400 with exercise, and burn 1898 naturally, I have a net calorie measurement of -1098. That's basically a third of a pound lost in a day).
-Set smaller goals. My main goal is to lose 101 lbs, but my 'right now' goal is to get to 199 lbs.
- Buy a really expensive incentive outfit that you've always thought you would look beautiful in. I bought a size 10 romper that I am dying to get into.
-And finally, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, do NOT starve yourself. Not only will your metabolism stop running and force you to retain weight, starving also causes loss of vitamins, cellulite, and teeth.. It's just not a good idea. You're body is a machine and you have to put the premium octane gas in it.
Sorry, that was really long-winded, but I'm really pumped about losing this weight :] I know that we can all do it, it's just about our own personal motivation.

I AM NOT ONE TO REACH OUT TO STRANGERS BUT THE SUPPORT IS ALMOST BETTER IN SOME WAYS FROM STRANGERS SOMETIMES! WE CAN DO IT!0

You are not alone- it's a blessing to be able to make positive changes in your life. Be kind to yourself and don't look back. This site is really awesome and supportive- I'd love to be your 'mfp' friend so add me if you'd like. Have a great day!0

"No one can make you feel inferior without your permission." Eleanor Roosevelt.
You are beautiful inside and out just the way God made you. Every choice you make, everything you do from here on out is just to make it better and better, to be a good steward of what you have been given. Celebrate who you are and love yourself and that positive energy will feed into your efforts and keep you afloat in the sunshine.0 -
Just read what you posted to a new person - I am in AWE of your ENERGY! Good Luck to you!0

girl... you CAN do it, GOD can do it! My inspiration has been watching a dear friend tackle those 100 pounds you see ahead of you... in the last year, it's been incredible to see her transform into who she was created to be, truly a joy!
glad you are along for MY ride, blessings!0
