Hardest journey of my life.

Hi I'm KJ and losing weight has been the hardest journey of my life. I started this journey to loss weight and to feel better about myself on July 1, 2014. I hated me, I hated the way I felt and I hated what others thought of me. I have 3 grown children so I'm an empty nester now. I've never had any will power. My stomach and my emotions have always ruled. I had a strong dislike for "healthy" foods and a great love of all the foods that aren't good for you. Let's not even talk about exercise. I avoided it at all cost. If I could get someone else to get something for me, I would. Don't ask me to do anything, was how I lived.
So what changed? I got fed up with me. That breaking point. I wanted to feel better, to be able to take a walk or shop without being in pain after only a few minutes. And well, to be able to wear clothes I didn't get in the plus size department. Cause let's be truthful, most of the clothes are ugly. I knew it couldn't happen without allowing myself "bad" days. You know the days you go and eat more than you should if you want to lose weight.
So far I've lost 82.5 lbs. and feel so much better already. I did it by watching my calorie intake and modest exercise of 30=45 mins. of treadmill 3 times a week plus some diet pills from a doctor to get past the hungry days (not everyday just about once a week). While most people think that's great, I'm disappointed with me. Because the weight hasn't come off as fast since the holidays. There are more "bad" days than good and I don't exercise as much as I started out. I gotta get back on track. The hardest part is being hungry all the time. I've tried all the foods with fiber that are suppose to help but they don't. The diet pills don't help much either. I also don't really want to rely on the pills. This needs to be a life style change. But it's getting harder not easier.

First I want to say you've done a *tremendous* job. Losing over 80 pounds, and changing things in your life to make that possible. is a real triumph. I know you don't feel that right now (I've been there), but don't forget the strength to get there. That same strength will see you through.
I don't know how much you weight right now. Is there a possibility that your loss has slowed down because you are closer to your ultimate goal? Sometimes that happens.
I wish you weren't disappointed in yourself. When we hit the hard parts, so to speak--or the journey to lose weight seems to be hard day and day out without reprieve--that's when we need belief in ourselves the most. You're headed in the right direction. The process tends to involve what looks like steps backwards, or long stalls where nothing changes. But it's not true. Even when we think we're stuck we're actually moving. Our bodies and hearts keep going, waiting for us to catch up. I don't think any step is a waste.
There are behaviors/changes you can make of course (make sure you're eating enough, accurate logging, trying new foods that might help you feel more full, etc.) I just wanted to focus on the psychological part. That's the part that gets me every time, so I'm working on that as much as my physical weight.
Good thoughts to you.0 -
Thank you for the kind words. I'm at 202 lbs. I don't have a number I want to get down to. I'll know when I get there. At the beginning I was losing 2-3 lbs a week and now it's only 1 lbs. or less. I still have too far to go before I get so close that the weight loss slows down because of that. Guess the up side is, is that I'm not gaining. LOL! Again thanks for the encouragement and kind words.0

Heh, that's how I keep my spirits up too! I'll take status quo versus the alternative!0

Hi KJ! Over 80 pounds is just AMAZING! And it proves you have what it takes to continue to lose and get to your goal. We all have bad days and we all struggle, you just need to find the motivation and get back on track. If you feel great now, just think how you will feel when you lose 20 more pounds! and so on...
You say you don´t have a number you want to get down to, so what if you set short term goals? Try 5 pounds and work to get there, once you do, set another small achievable goal, you will feel so much better when you see you are succeeding!
You CAN do this! You already have, just don´t give up0
