changing what you eat?

I've been juicing and having yogurt and coffee until dinner time (massive change from fast food 2 times a day)where I'll have a sandwich made with bread and cheese and some miscellaneous meat and toppings. I haven't been working out, but I clean for about 5 hours a day which is good cardio. I've lost 25 pounds. Well this last week I started squeezing sandwiches into lunch instead of yogurt. After losing 2+# a week for 10 weeks I have found that I didn't lose any weight! I drank a lot of wine on Sunday. A LOT. But other than Sunday I have not gone over my calories. I guess I'm just wondering if the calories from Sunday blew my whole week or if it was the sandwiches. I'm just disappointed and I don't want another week like this. Bleh.

It's hard to tell when your food diary isn't public..0

When you go so long not eating a lot and then you introduce more food into your body your metabolism isn't going to shift into high gear but rather absorb all the nutrients and hold onto the calories its been craving until it realizes this is going to be a regular thing because it doesn't know yet when it's next big meal will be. Give it another week but don't give up. You should be trying to eat how you plan to eat for the rest of your life. The only difference when trying to lose weight should be you eat less bit you shouldn't need to eliminate anything unless its something you are eliminating forever. For example, I never plan to drink sodas again. Hope that helps.0

It's always the sandwiches0

Oh sorry, I made it public now. I know it will be fine and I am trying to change the way I eat. I only eat bread once a day at dinner time really and so now when I go to maintenance in the future, does that mean I should continue to eat it once a day? I guess I'm still learning. This week I learned don't binge drink and don't have sandwiches for lunch.0

Oh good grief...your calories are what matters...not whether or not you had a sandwich. There's nothing inherently wrong with a sandwich or bread or whatever. Carbs aren't the devil and carbs don't prevent you from losing weight. Eating over your calories does.
I'd also add that weigh loss isn't a linear thing...you're not going to lose weight every week...sometimes you will have smaller losses and sometimes bigger losses...sometimes no loss and sometimes even a small gain due to water retention or excess waste in your system. You need to look at the overall trend over time and stop vacillating over the minutia of weigh in to weigh in.0 -
Honestly, eat however you want so long as it's about 500 less than your TDEE. If it fits your macros, eat it.0

I eat bread every day and I have been losing 1 or 2 lbs a week so far. Its not really what you eat its how much you eat. Calories in vs calories burned. Weigh and measure everhthing you eat and drink, keep within your calorie range and you will be awesome.0

I never understand why people post one thing and their food log shows something very different. Just checking the last few days you eat bread not only in large amounts, but more often than just for dinner.
In general you either juice or eat a lot of bread......not exactly a healthy and balanced diet . I see not other food except some snacks and on one occasion a quesadilla.....and of course lots of sweet coffee.
As long as you stay within your calorie limit that should of course not keep you from losing. What such a diet will do long term to your health is of course a different matter. I would also think that it is not sustainable which could be a trigger for even more unhealthy ways of eating.
Maybe you need to concentrate on protein, beneficial fat, complex carbs and the occasional treat. That is probably healthier, allows you to sustain the weekly deficit that in the long run will assure weight loss.
Also, the fact that you did not lose during one week has NOTHING to do with real weight loss stalling as long as you ate within your deficit. Weight loss does not happen every week, but especially for women is influenced by TOM, hormones, the weather ( literally ! I retain much more water when it is hot and humid and know that many women do ), salt intake ( which with all those store bought sandwiches you eat might be an issue for you ), meds and quite a few other things.
Good Luck !0 -

right, I was talking about this week I ate a lot of bread and Monday I was terribly hungover and had taco bell. I don't really know what macros are and the snacks this week were left overs from a party. I have had a pretty consistent diet, while struggling on weekends. I know that if I eat less calories I will lose weight. I want to eat healthy. So what I was wondering, did the calories from sundays wine slow me down or was it the excessive amounts of bread that I don't normally eat? maybe it doesn't matter and you may think I'm obsessing but I would prefer to not make the same mistake twice I guess.0 -
Unless your gluten intolerant the bread should be fine. If you feel like it's a stumbling block though, cut it out. I generally dont eat bread, but generally doesn't mean never. My wife and my kids eat bread all the time, I just don't eat it everyday.
When you say that you want to eat healthy, what does that mean to you? A lot of folks around here think that means eating anything as long as it fits your macros. I think it means eating fresh organic vegetables and fruits everyday and avoiding low quality foods like candy, cake, and fast food, while sticking to your macros of course.0 -
Oh yeah. You mentioned that you don't know what macros are? It's your fat, carbs, protein. You need all of them to be healthy. I shoot for one gram of protein per pound of lean body mass, 1 gram of fat per .3-.5 pound of body weight and the rest is carbs. You can look up lots of different opinions about macros though. Body building websites are usually easy places to find macro calculators.0

The only thing that's consistent here is that you make poor choices and are trying to blame certain food groups and macronutrients. Be consistent around the clock, not just when it is convenient for you. Jesus was skinny on bread and wine, so it obviously works.

Yes when I say eating healthy I am talking about organic fruits and vegetables, Greek yogurt and smoothies lean meats and things like that. I just started all this almost 3 months ago, I'd like to indulge in certain foods on occasion but nothing like I was before I started losing weight. I've been developing my self control over what I eat and I thought I was doing pretty well. This post doesn't really matter I was just trying to get into the community a little bit but it's just not working for me lol.0 -

Thanks. So what should I be more consistent with? The wine and bread?0 -

Omg that sounds so complicated! I do look at the nutrition on mfp and I try to do the 30/50/20 I'm not too far off most days. You have it on point daily like that though? It sounds like a whole different world to me.0 -
No my macro goals are not set up on Mfp. But I know what they should be, so I ignore the incorrect generic goals that Mfp gives. It's not complicated really. I eat at least 160ish grams of protein and some where between 60-100 grams of fat. The rest is carbs. Yours will be different, it's easy though.
A lot of people have good luck with just counting calories and protein. I think most folks tend to have plenty of carbs and fats in their diets anyway.0 -
You may want to add some strength training too. Depending on what your goals are. Are you just looking to lose weight? Or do you want to keep your muscle while losing fat?0

I checked out your dairy. You need more protein, no question. If you like smoothies, then you can try whey protein. It's really healthy and inexpensive.0

Just glancing at your diary. All I can say is..."where's the beef?" Wow are you getting enough protein?0
