I look pregnant after eating anything (seriously!)

Whenever i eat something i feel so bloated and my stomach expands to the point where i look 4 months pregnent! I know your stomach is obviously meant to expand after eating, but i look pregnant after just eating a salad! This is extreme. Seriously, i thought it might of been due to carbs, too many green vegetables or dairy. But even after just having a snack or if i drink a smoothie my stomach looks huge. I had a small leafy salad with half an avocado about 3 hours ago and my stomach still looks pregnant. It's gotten to the point where i can't wear fitted tops anymore, and if i do want to wear fitted clothes i will have to starve myself all day because i'm scared i will bloat. My stomach is usually relatively flat when i wake up in the morning and sometimes i think that it may be just all in my head. But this is a picture of my stomach 3 hours after eating a light salad.

I'm 5 ft 3 and 107 lbs.
And btw, i'm definitly not pregnant
Does this happen to you? How do you stop it? It makes me feel really insecure.

Yeah, you should talk to your doctor about it. That is a lot of bloat.

I get what I like to call "Food Baby" after I eat... but it is just normal e.g., having food and liquid in your stomach... and it goes away once I begin to digest and after. It seems like yours is in excess.

I went to the doctors a couple of months ago and had a blood test but everything came back normal, so the doctors think it's just all in my head and they don't take me seriously. Maybe i should make another appointment and show them the photo. I've been using peppermint tea to cope for a while now, i'll try get some probiotics. Thanks for the advice guys!

I have found that I cannot eat anything with Inulin / chicory root. It is in a lot of "diet foods". When I do, I get so bloated that I look 9 months pregnant. Lots of pain due to the bloating. That and soy. Check and see if chicory root or inulin is in any of the foods that you eat. It's in a lot of yogurts, ( Activa yogurt kills me - and it's suppose to help your digestive tract - not mine!), fiber one bars/cereal - tons of things.

Good luck, it's a miserable feeling!

i had the same thing. after meeting with my gastro specialist and a nutritionist, a wheat sensitivity was diagnosed. I think this is something that family physicians may not recognize immediately. i had lab work done too (ordered by family dr) but because i didn't test positive for celiac disease, my symptoms weren't taken seriously. I started to take pixs before i ate and after to show the bloat. i also wrote everything down. when i went to my gastro specialist and the nutritionist, they had everything they needed to see. i recommend a specialist.

My mom and I just had a talk about this. We discovered that after we eat we both look so bloated. My mom doesnt eat any wheat, dairy, soy, pork, corn, or eggs. I on the other will devour those things. At first, I thought it was because of what I eat but my mom has the same problems and she basically eats fruits, vegetables, nuts, and berries all day. But we both have irregular bowel movements. Some people have 3 a day while me and my mother are happy to have 1 a day.

I have the same issue. I drink water almost constantly so I am pretty sure it isn't bloat, and I'm not eating enough to make it bulge like that. I'm just hoping that eventually the stomach will shrink as I continue on my journey, since going to the doctor for anything that is not an emergency is not in the budget.
  • I have this exact same problem! Did you evervdiscover a cause or solution?

Hey there, I’m 107 pounds and 5ft 3. I have a major major bloat too. I think it’s a bit bigger than you. I might see if I can take a picture. I also think it’s worse after certain foods. I might pop to the doctor! Feel free to check my food diary to see! Good luck x

Unless you're suffering malnutrition, the only advice I have is to step away from the mommy's groups and Mercola.com or Food Babe.

Why do zombie threads always get resurrected by people who seem to have just signed up with MFP and this is their first post?

See, the OP needs to have a good colon cleanse after each meal, which should consist of ACV only.

Boggle my mind why people respond AFTER it's pointed out to be a zombie thread thinking the OP is still around.

Hey, this happens to me too. For me, it ended up being that my core muscles were weak and flabby. Once I built stronger abs, the bloat dramatically decreased. That + staying constantly hydrated changed me for a whole year, I actually wore a bellyshirt in public!

I'm flabby again, but I'm hitting the gym once more. I really do recommend building your abs, they snap into place when strong, Good luck!

it wouldn't matter if the original post was from the 1800s. People will keep answering and answering. :/

I keep thinking that maybe she's off caring for her 3 year old.

But anyway, yes, I certainly hope that she fixed the issue, probably some kind of food sensitivity or allergy.

I think the "why not search for a topic" is when people ask something that gets asked all the time (anyone keto? heard of ACV? how about that coconut oil? does eating after 6 pm make you fat?). I find it odd when someone ANSWERS a question someone asked 3 years ago.

The "I have this issue too" thing is in the middle, but on the whole it's best to ask specific questions about your own situation in a new thread, especially if the other was years ago.

I think Noel is right that it often happens because people are googling and join MFP to contribute to the thread.

I googled "I look pregnant after eating anything" and this thread was the 7th in my search. lol They just join to see if they can seek answers to their own issues they maybe googling.... maybe?!?
