Barely eating but gaining weight??? So frustrating

You're eating so little that it's stressing your body out. When your body stresses, it releases cortisol. Cortisol causes a decreases in metabolism, so the amount you ARE eating, isn't getting burned, it's getting stored. Also, if you're only eating fruits/veggies, you're probably getting a lot of fiber, so you're bloated and constipated. Stop starving yourself. You're doing more harm than good.0

You're eating way too little. You need 3 meals a day and snacks in between or your metabolism will slow and make you bloat.0

By the way, long term logging does not mean ignoring all the splurge days that you would likely have when "determined" to eat so little0 -
Wow. Just...wow.
First of all, there's no reason to only eat fruit and vegetables. Zero reason. Cut it out. Secondly, two days isn't enough to see/feel a difference in weight. You didn't gain the weight overnight, so you aren't going to lose it overnight either. Patience: get some. All of this "looking bigger" nonsense is ridiculous - it's all in your head. You're starving yourself by eating 600 calories per day, you're certainly not getting bigger. Your idea of "fairly quickly" and my idea of "fairly quickly" is probably very different. You're not going to lose weight in two days - I can't say it enough. Here's my advice: stop dieting. You're harming your body with these radical super-low-cal diets. You need to educate yourself on health and nutrition because, quite frankly, you have no clue.
Don't cut anything out of your diet. You can lose weight while still eating meat, dairy, carbs, fat, etc. It's calories in vs. calories out. Go to http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/, put in your stats, and eat however many calories it tells you to eat. Get ready, because it's going to be WAY more than 600 calories. Next, you need to chill the hell out, because healthy weight loss isn't going to be as fast as you're hoping.
I'm wondering if you're even overweight. The best advice I could probably give you is to see a doctor.0 -
its impossible to gain weight on the amount of calories you are eating
so either you're lying
or your uh lying
but keep posting topics like this that make you sound like you have an eating disorder... works real well in these forums

this is counterproductive also. you shouldn't belittle ED. if she has disordered eating, she needs a specialist and to tell her family and friends to have a network of support.
This should be a safe place for people to voice their experiences. OP, sounds like your metabolism is shot. Also, all the fiber in only fruits and veggies will bloat you like a mofo. You really should seek the assistance of a trained professional to try and get your metabolism and eating habits rehabilitated.0 -
OP... please see a professional.0

yea, there is no reason to be nasty towards someone. obviously she needs support and positive feedback to try and seek the help she needs. I can be sympathetic because often times I have realized I become to obsessed about my weight and have seen a psychiatrist to help me with that. This site is supposed to help people not make people feel worse.0

You always want to aim to eat at LEAST 1200 calories a day. Otherwise your body will go into starvation mode. Maybe not right away, but it will and then it will start storing almost everything you eat. This is not good. So at least try to hit 1,200. As far as eating your calories, I personally stick to three things - 1. try to fill yourself up with fruits, veggie, smart carbs, and protein. 1,200 will seem like a LOT of food to you if you do. 2. if you work out that day and you are hungry and are at 1,200 calories - eat something. This is your body's way of telling you that you need to eat. 3. Drink lots of water. I always try to drink a big glass of water 15 minutes before I eat a meal. This way I don't over eat and will really feel when I am full. Hope that helps!!0

Honey, it definitely sounds to me like you need to seek professional help of some sort. There is no award for doing things yourself, without a doctor -- the important thing is to get as healthy as possible, no matter what type of help you need to seek to give yourself the best chance at health and happiness. I've struggled with anxiety disorder/OCD in the past, and you can bet your sweet sassafras I sought out medical help for it when I couldn't handle it on my own. The same thing with any type of physical, mental, or emotional condition -- if you need help, please seek it out.
You already know that starving yourself is not working and not healthy. Please take care of yourself.0 -

You're probably getting bloated from the fiber, meaning it's likely just air.
Also stop this.
Be patient, eat at least 1400 cal/day and try walking for exercise. You'll likely just bounce back from this method and eat more and worse thus gaining weight. You need to make it sustainable to be a lifestyle change.0 -
Are you really kidding me?? In 2 days you are gaining weight? Clothes don't fit? You are not going to get results in 2 days. And 600 calories? A day? You are going to seriously hurt yourself doing that. I base that not even knowing your current physique. You might be a good candidate to see a doctor. Bit 600 calories isn't a good plan.
Get a new mindset. Don't be afraid to eat. Are you just wanting to diet (A temporary reduction in weight)? Or are you on a total behavioral modification?
Don't get me wrong, weight loss doesn't happen over days. Its a longer process than that.
