Change of Scene Wreaking Havoc on Food Choices

I have spent the last week dog sitting for a friend a few miles from my home. There aren't any good grocery stores around so I find myself living on what I wouldn't call junk food, but what is definitely higher calorie that I have been eating - regular bread instead of my 35 calorie bread, fewer of my favorite veggies because they're not available, etc. I had gotten into a good groove with my diet (and my grocery budget) until now where I was happy and full with what I was eating and wasn't tempted to go over limits, but everything feels out of whack. Anyone have any good advice for making an away from home stay easier on your diet?

Even in a not-good grocery store, stick to the produce and meat aisles and you should be good to go.0

If you are stuck with higher calorie bread choices than your preferred brand, I would personally go for as many whole grains, protein, and fiber as possible to give you more bang for your calorie buck.
For veggies, check out the frozen food section. Most grocery stores have a pretty decent selection of frozen bagged veggies, and not all of them are higher calorie sauced versions. I've seen a lot more variety in "mixed veggie blends" recently and they also have started making pre-cut frozen "meal assist" veggie packs, like peppers and onions for fajitas, or stir-fry veggies, that you could pair with a protein and some light sauce for a decent meal.0
