I haven't been very good with my diet the past few days & today I went to a working meeting where they served us lunch & I really overdid it & continued on when I got home as well. I can't imagine how many calories I consumed today. I want to reach my goal weight of 120 by the middle of Sept. when I go to my best friend's wedding & I have 15 pounds to lose to get there & I'm just sabotaging myself constantly. Half the time I eat not because I am even hungry, but just because I want the taste of a certain thing. I don't know how to explain it, but I'm just feeling really down right now.

Don't feel bad. Try having a glass of water. You are so close to your goal, don't give up!!!0

From my personal "self-motivation" mantra: Perfection should not be an expectation but a reward. If I eat too many calories in a day- I will not stress it. In the words of Scarlet O'Hara: After all, tomorrow is a new day.0

We've all been where you are today; or at least most of us on these boards have been there. The important thing is what you do from this moment on. When I feel this way (like I feel today because I've over-eaten today), I remember my friend telling me that......."Yesterday ended at midnight."0

Don't beat yourself up about it. We all have days that set us back. Just get right back on track with the next meal. Maybe try to plan ahead tonight what you will eat all day tomorrow. I find it helps me when I plan the night before what to eat the next day, then I won't have to think about it when I'm already hungry. That's when I can do a lot of damage! Don't give up. You can do it!!0

Thank you. I really love "Yesterday ended at midnight" especially0

We've all been there. Everybody slips up.
Tomorrow is another chance to start over.0 -
You'll get there! 11 more pounds? You have plenty of time!
Try swimming. Swimming works you out with cardio and resistance at the same time and it works ALL of your muscles. The weight goes away SO fast when you swim regularly. Ever read about all the food Michael Phelps ate?! He ate enough for like ten people a day, lol. Because he swam all the time! Clears you head, too. Hard to think about anything when you swim.
Okay, I googled it and here you go: The 12,000 calories a day diet of Michael Phelps! http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2008/08/13/the-michael-phelps-diet-dont-try-it-at-home/
He ate ALL of this food on a typical day. They aren't selections he choose from. He ate all of this (and if he had any extra fat on him, the bathing suit was covering it!
~~Breakfast: Three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five-egg omelet. One bowl of grits. Three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar. Three chocolate-chip pancakes.
~~Lunch: One pound of enriched pasta. Two large ham and cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread. Energy drinks packing 1,000 calories.
~~ Dinner: One pound of pasta. An entire pizza. More energy drinks.
Swimming: Good for the body, good for the soul.
You got thrown. No big deal. Just shake it off, let it go and get back up on the horse!
You'll do it.0 -

This is going to sound awful, but I don't really know how to swim. People have tried to teach me, but I never really got it. But I'm still going to check out that article, thank you!0 -

Be strong. I'm not saying be happy with yourself for going over, but don't let it do anything more than give you resolve to immediately go back to kicking *kitten*. You got this.0

(If you ever want to. Not suggesting you must call the Red Cross today and schedule lessons, lol.)
Even without swimming, you'll get there.
I like the "Yesterday ended at midnight" saying, too. It's a good one. I'm going to steal it.0 -

I think my issue is learning to relax as well. I think taking classes will be a good idea. I always picture myself going to take a swimming class & all the other students are little kids & I'm the only adult lol!0 -
Thanks so much for all the encouraging words! It really has helped0

Most pools have beginner level lessons for adults, so you wouldn't have to learn with little kids0 -

A friend of mine told me once that guilt is a useless emotion, and he's right! Feeling bad just makes me want to eat more! Being regretful about bad days won't change them, but tomorrow is a new day! Maybe you just need some tricks to keep you from indulging. Anytime a crazy urge strikes, drink some water and wait. You may find it passes. If you're really craving some chocolate for example, eat yourself a tiny chocolate square. Then you get the taste, and not the whole 200 calorie candy bar. Losing weight doesn't have to be about depriving yourself. If you do it that way, you're setting yourself up to fail. If you go out to eat, get something you want, but reduce the portion. If they cater lunch at work, eat, but take smaller amounts on your plate. If you still feel bad, pop in a quick exercise DVD that evening. Jillian Michaels Fast Fix Kickbox is my favorite...20 minutes...over 200 calories...bam!0 -
If you pictures are how you look now you don't need to worry!! Even without reaching your goal you look great. Also, one day does not have to set the basis for your week. I had a bad day yesterday too. We are all human, so simply put yesterday as the past and make sure you do better the next day.0

Thanks again everyone! Today is leg day so I'm planning to burn a lot of calories! Yesterday is done & I'm moving forward towards my goals! Have a great day everyone!0
